$289 for 325i, $399 for 530i
Whats wrong with bmw??? Are they that desperate to sell? They keep advertasing on tv, $289/month for 325i, $399 a month for 530i. While having dinner at a restaurant, the guy next to my table was talking about his new 330ci, leased for $340 a month, so i asked how much down did he put, he said his total first payment was $1500 including everything. then $340 a month after that. Geez.

Well if thats the case it, it isn't any 36-39months, would have to be 60 months.
Dealers are aggressive now, but you still can't lease a $40k car for 3 years with $1500 total out of pocket for mid $300's/month.

I just built a 330Ci on BMW's website with a $38,300 MSRP (almost a base model car)...they are quoting $579/month for 36months, tax up front.
Mind you, BMW's internet lease numbers are generally accurate...sometimes they are $40-$60 too much. So lets say they are and then some, it would still run him around $499/month (maybe a little less) for 36months (15k/year) with tax and tags up front, thats no $1500 (more like $3000).
That deal sounds way too good to be true, but hey...you never know.

I dont agree with the BMW website quote being anywhere close to accurate. When I went to teh dealer back in october, they quoted me a 60 month finance with $10k down and low $400s a month for 325ci with sports package, premium package, steptronic and HK sound. I just built one on the web site and it said $519, so its at least about $90 cheaper at the dealer.

He was lying to you. Unless his father owns the dealership, there is no way he's leasing an '01 or '02 330ci for $340/mo for 36 months with 15k miles per year.
The most base 330ci you can buy will cost $35,635. With $1500 down, your capitalized cost is $34,135. We'll assume a residual value of $18,774, or 55 percent (standard BMW number). You're now at a monthly payment of $427, and we're just beginning.
We have to add interest to the loan. With a money factor of 0.00291667 (equivalent to a 7% loan), the interest adds $154, for a monthly payment of $581, without tax or surcharge for 15k miles.
There's room for negotiation, of course...your dinner friend might have knocked $1000 off MSRP (very unusual, but not unheard of), and he might have negotiated the money factor down to, say 0.00208333 (5%), but he's still at a lease payment of $521. You got lied to.

But about the knocking only $1000 off MSRP being unusal. I happen to have bought bmws before, we got about $4000 off MSRP on each one(and I am not lieing). THis is what I did, first u can always knock at least 1k off msrp. I start off telling them another dealer gave me a price(1k-1500 below MSRP before i even negotiated the price ) If they say no way, then I just go ok thanks for your time, i'll go to another dealer and walk out, they'll ususally ask u to stay. Then you are already at least 1k to 1500 below MSRP, u follow by taking 2k off from euro deliver. THats 3k to 3500 below MSRP. Then tell them im buying 4, take another 1k off each and i'll pay cash right now. And there goes ur 4k off MSRP if not more.
