How low are you? I have the exact same tire specs and have never rubbed.

I have 18x7.5 +40 and I'm lowered about 2.5" front. I don't have any rubbing issues since I've tucked in the fender lining.

pull into the driveway slower... no point killing your tires faster so you can pull up driveways

Pics of your lowering might be nice too... while the car is parked on flat ground.

i have a similar problem on my 17x8 +42 rims lowered about 2" (225/45 tires)

I recently ordered an eibach front camber kit to help remedy the problem

if you're running a 235 wide tyre that may be contributing aswell.

like someone else sugested, tuck in your fender lining behind the fender and you should have the few mm you need to stop the rubbing.

FYI I had 18x7.5 +42 225/40/18 on Eibach prokits and never ever rubbed. When I installed Tein SS and lowered a ton I rubbed and moved the fender liner inside

i have 235 tire, what do you mean by tucking the liner inside? I guess i'll have to look and figure out what you are talking about...

^^ you bascially rolling the fender line. I really dont recommend that at all. You can actually damage your paint or the fender.

+48 offset would have been better to have with 7.5" wide rims. Roll your fenders or put in extra front negative camber .

inside the wheel well there is a plastic lining held in by plastic clips... if you take the clips out you'll be able push the plastic lining up in behind the actual fender giving you a few extra mm of clearance

I'm trying extra negative camber so i can go a bit lower...

does anyone know how to calculate how much the edge of the wheel will tilt in (in millimetres per degree of negative camber?)

Xizor and I are not talking about 'rolling fenders'......

we just tucked the fender lining....(take the clips off anf move the fender liner inside) It's very simply and will minimize rubbing.

So are there any adverse effects to tucking the fender lining? Also, do you move the entire lining, or just the top part?

I just ordered a set of wheels in 18 x 7.5 with a +45 offset, and this thread has got me worried that I'll rub since I'm dropped ~2 in (and possibly a little more in the future). Based on my rough measurements, I should have about 0.1 in (or ~3mm) worth of clearance if I go with 225/40 tires and I'm wondering if that's cutting it too close.

You should be fine with your size and offset. I doub't you'll rub if you're only 2" inch dropped with 225 or 235 series tires. The only adverse efects you'll have by tuckin the fender lining is you will have more clearence, believe me I was rubbing on sharp turns and dips. If you do 'tuck in'....You should remove all the clips at the top, just to let you know if you tuck in the top, you might have to tuck in lining all the way around.

How is having more clearance considered adverse? Or were you just being facetious ?

Could I potentially just cut off the portion of the lining that rubs or would it be better to just tuck it?

I guess I meant to be humorous……it's kinda hard to notice in writing. I'm such a fool. Anyway…..obviously you will have more clearance by tuckin' in the fender.

I wouldn't suggest cutting off the lining, why would you want to do that when you can just save yourself the time and 'tuck in'. it's really fast and easy not time consuming whatsoever. And after that if you raise your car you can 'untuck' the fender and then clip the tabs back on. (If you do end up doing this, I suggest you save and hold on to the clips/tabs.)

Do you guys think I would have any rubbing problems running a set of 18x7.5 +50 w/ 235/40 tires and a 3 inch drop?

I DONT want to tuck in the fender lining and plus I like to corner hard, would it be safer to go with 225 series?

You should be fine. Xizor ( a member here) was dropped pretty low, lower than 3" with 18x8 +45 w/225/40 tires....

the rubbing happens more when you pull into a steep entrance and the wheels are turned at more of an angle. my back wheels dont rub and the rear is actually lowered more on my tsx.

So, what wheels are YOU getting ??

I was also debating between 225 and 235 tires, but I plan on going with 225s for the better performance aspect (along with the smaller potential of rubbing). Why were you planning to go with 235s?

if you don't want to rub, I'd suggest getting 225's

I had a set of 17x8 +45 235/45/17 and rubbed a bit, went to 18x8 +45 225/40/18 and never ever rubbed

hmmm, now I dont know what to do. Im looking to basically have no gap maybe even tuck a little bit of tire. You definetly think I would have problems with the 235 series?

well +50 is a good offset, you might not rub because the wheel will be farther in (reducing the 10mm increase in tire size by 5mm).

My front tires used to rub quite a bit in my old slammed DA. I told myself I would never do that again especially on a 28k car, so I think I will just play it safe and go with 225.

thanks for the advice
