Tire Deviation Question.

Ok I'm no stranger when it comes to plus sizing and the lot, but upon looking at the Master Tire Guide, I remembered that the Euro R's have 225/45 17 stock correct. According the guide that would be a great deviation. So why can they run such a smaller size in diameter. Is it because of the different motor? or diff gearing ratio? Help me out anyone? Thanks for the input.

What's the stock diameter? Is it 50? Usually the width makes up for the shorter sidewall rating, but I don't know the stock tire size.

It's only off by 1.9% which is fine to use on a TSX. Honda would also calibrate the speedometer accordingly on the Euro-R.

So if I wanted to replace my tires with 225/45 's it should be ok?

Or does that mean I will have slight speeedometer discrepancies.

I'm running 225/45/17s; they look a little small in wheelwell but are okay if you're lowered. At stock height it would look ridiculous.

The EuroR comes stock 215/45/17 tires and their gearings are slightly different from the TSX 6MT. Here are the gear ratios between the two.

JDM EuroR
3.266/2.130/1.517/1.147/0.921/0.738, 4.764 final

TSX 6MT
3.267/1.880/1.355/1.028/0.825/0.659, 4.760 final

I love to have the 2nd gear ratio from the JDM EuroR to eliminate the 1-2 bog. Wonder if I can just buy the 2nd gear ratio from Japan.

Hey thanks for all the deatails, I appreciate it, oh and thanks for correcting me.

Yeah those stats are interesting, I wonder why those chose to gear the TSX that way?

Oh and Lanny do you have some pics I'd like to see what that sidewall looks like, plus Im only lowered Fr: 1.1 Rr: 0.75

I think they did that cause they want the fastest 0-60 times possible and you can't do that if you have to shift to third before hitting 60. At least that was the theory for the 6spd Celica. That thing had horrible gearing. SER Spec-V had bad gearing too.

hey thanks for the pics, and how large they are.....really helped me see the gap close up, like if I was really there. Hmmm maybe I should reconsider that tire size, it might make my wheel gap back to looking stock again...... since you have a 2.0 drop in the front and i only have a 1.1 drop...oh and did the extra 10 mm of offset make much of a difference as being flush with the fender?

When I had the factory 215/50/17s with that drop, the tires looked well inside the wheelwell-from the rear looking down the side it didn't look like it had tires . So I kinda wanted to move them out a little. There really wasn't even a finger gap before.....
