Exclamation Tein Basic or Tanabe Sustec Pro II's

Hey guys - i am planning on purchasing my coilovers within the next 30 days, and I am still torn between the two. I know the general benefits of each: The Tein's will allow for better performance, while the Tanabe's will be softer. But my question is this -- coming from a stock suspension set-up, and having Progress RSB as well, I'm just wondering how 'rough' the Tein's will feel compared to what I'm used to? Also, how much more aggressive is the handling of the Tanabe system compared to stock?

If anyone has any other reasons as to why one system better outweighs the other, that input would be greatly appreciated as well!!

Thanks,
former

Ha! I am in the same position as you are. Tanabe's give a softer ride while Teins are a bit firmer is the general consenus after searching the forum. But the only problem is, no body seems to have the Tanabe Sustec pro S-0C type 2 coilovers in stock! Even Heeltoe vendor doesnt have them!

They were back ordered. I believe the container arrived today on the Tanabe coilovers. If you need a set let me know.

I just installed my tanabe sustec II, I also have the progress RSB. The ride is soft, but handles great. I would diffenetly choose tanabe over tein if comfort is ur priority.

Where did you get them? I cannot find a vendor who has them in stock anywhere?
Can you elaborate on the performance aspect of them?

Such as=

1) Reduction in lateral body roll
2) Brake squat reduction?

BTW how many inches did you drop your TSX? Any issues with rubbing? Noises?

I am planning on a 1.5-1.7 inch drop, something to obtain a subtle drop to reduce the wheel gap.

Thanks.

I bought them 6mths ago from hop-up racing for $750.

lateral roll has been greatly reduced, I still need to test it out more. I just got them installed saturday
Brake squat reduction is also greatly reduced, the car feels like it performs better. Keep in mind I also installed Fujita CAI. I was running AEM SRI before

I would say my drop is about 2" in the front and 1.8" in the back
The way i did the drop was I measured until there was just enough space for a one finger gap all around.

you didn't need a compressor to load the strut onto the springs...cause if they come assembled already, then thats right up my league

Can the people who have tanabe's say a bit more about the differences between them and stock.

Touch on:

Body Roll

Brake & Acceleration Dive

Ride quality over a variety of different road surfaces

Noise levels (many aftermarket setups make noise)

Overall driving confidence, comfort and satisfaction.

I am in the market for something and I am having trying to decide between Tanabe coilovers, or a set of lowering springs.
