Tein Basic Installation/Pricing

I recently purchased a new set of Tein Basics for my 06 TSX. I previously installed a progressive RSB and it is my only suspension mod so far. I feel that I lack the knowledge to install the basics myself after doing a few searches and I'm currently calling local shops to get pricing for the install. So I was wondering what a reasonable price is for the coilover install. I've gotten prices no less than 300 and feel like that's a little high. Am I right or is that about right for the install? Thanks for the help!

installing coilovers shouldn't be that hard, im 17 years old and sucessfully installed full coilovers on my brothers Accord. Shops usually charge $200 for installation depending on the area. DIY to installing coilovers are all around the forums.

The Basics require you to reuse your tophats from your OEM suspension. They would have to uninstall your OEM suspension, disassemble it, replace the tophat from the OEM suspension to the Basics, and then install the Basics.

Prices vary from area to area but IF they are doing all of that and including it in the price I would say low 300's should be reasonable. I did my BC N+ with my boy and it was a headache to initially do. I wouldn't be a happy camper if I had to install the tophats on it too. If they are not including that then I would say for the install the mid 200's is usual for my area. I would keep shopping around then and say you have some mechanic offering to do it for like 270 and see if someone matches. You're really just paying for the time it'll take to do it anyways.

I got a quote yesterday from a local shop stating that I need camber kits for each wheel and that will cost about $500 so the guy obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. I will probably go ahead and get ingalls for the rear for a total of $150 and keep looking around for a better price. Thanks for the help guys. Jim: I feel like I would run into some problem with the top hats as sortudo stated (or another unexpected problem). So i would rather just have a shop do it. Unless I had someone work on it with me that knew the car well. Thanks again for the advice.

^+1 If they try to charge you more then that, walk away. Try to find some local forum bros close to you. Most would do it for a paid lunch or a couple of beers. I would

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the help! I recently bought the ingalls rear camber kit from MrHeeltoe so it should be here soon and I'll look again for some place/person for install.
