Scraping with HTechs and Konis

I have Tein H Techs and Neuspeed Koni adjustables shocks on my 2008 TSX. The advertised lowering is 1.25 front and .75 rear. I am getting a lot of scraping under the front of the car on driveways. It has become a daily event that the underside of the front scrapes when approaching driveways. I raised the front spring perch one notch on the shocks and this should correlate to about a .25 inch increase in front ride height. However, after raising the lower perch I still scrape just as much and it doesn't really look like the front raised at all. Does raising the lower perch raise the ride height or does it only increase the preload on the front springs? Should I raise the front perch another notch? Maybe lower the rear one notch to level the car out so the front isn't angled down?

Thanks
Blair

Raising the perch raises the car and vice versa. With added preload you will get more height as well, but the height goes up less than the amount of the perch movement.

Sounds like, unless something is put in wrong, you simply need to be a little more careful when approaching driveways. Raise the front too much and the car will look goofy. Lowering the back will have the same results as raising the front.

I use H-Tech's + Koni's too.. It's on the lowest perch, and before I got the lipkit it wasn't too bad. I scraped coming out of driveways though, so I roll off driveways on an angle, doesn't scrape that way even after I got my euroR lip

I always scrape going into the parking garage at my office. No matter whether I angle the approach or go super slow. My boss has a Porsche 911 that seems like it is much lower than my car and he nevers scrapes going into the garage. It would seem like my car with such a conservative lowering shouldn't either...

I'm curious to see a pic of what you are doing when it scrapes.

Also, is the bumper scraping? Or the aero flaps in front of the tires?

The front aero guards are the usual part that scrapes. Also, there are two little metal tabs under the front that stick down a little, those scrape once in a while too.

I never approach a steep drive perpendicular (90 deg) to the entrance.. always at an angle to try to prevent scrapes. But this hasn't seemed to help.

So what angle would you say you use? 45?

20deg !

it appears that the front end of the tsx sticks out pretty damn far (Front of bumper to wheel).

compared to say an integra or something. The front end is so close to the wheel, they can slam the shit out of the car and still be able to make it up a speedbump going half as sideways
