Camber kit (problem?)
Camber kit (problem?)
I have a question, I've had my camber kit installed about a week or two. But I've noticed that when driving my car at high speeds around 50-75 I feel the steering much more sensitive than before I installed Ingalls rear camber kit and allignment. The car tends to have a 'fish tail' effect as for example when I'm on the highway switching lanes I feel the car have a lot of body lean and hence have this 'fish tail' effect. Like I mentioned before this only tends to happen when driving at higher speeds Could this be normal, or anyone who's had this issue?
Thanks...
Thanks...
Could also be tires. Stiffer sidewalls will grip the changes in the road differently. The only issue with the Ingalls is that the locking nut MUST BE tighten very well. One of them takes a good crows foot socket to get it tight enough. Easy thing to do... have the alignment checked again. If it is off, more than likely they didn't tighten them down.

The rear has that effect almost everytime I'm driving at the higher speeds. Although it does the same when I go over bumps. It's very Irritating and it feels unsafe. I'm just trying to figure out why this happen only at certain speed, I would assume something would be wrong if I would constanly getting that same effect regardless of how fast I'm going. Here's the sheet given to me when I had my allignment done, not sure how to read this or the specs/differences.
sorry for such a bad scan...

does your steering feel more sensitive or the car as a whole? the rear camber kit should not affect the steering of the front wheels. but if your toe out is out of wack in the back it will give that wobbly unsteady feeling like the back of the car wants to shoot one way or another.
bring your car back to the alignment shop and make sure everything is still correct, it could be possible, if they didn't tighten it correctly, that your rear toe is out of alignment

I had the exact same issues that you're having last week when I installed my Tein SSs. On the drive back from Excelerate (
), my car was wobbling all over the highway. I did my alignment this past weekend, and the comp said I was running about -0.90/-0.19 negative toe in the LR/RR (I think the spec range is -0.00-0.16). They adjusted my RCK to bring everything back into the factory range, and now everything's golden.
after driving home tonight with a slight drizzle, i noticed that my rear was very sensitive to road conditions (grooves, ruts, etc.). in fact, it was so noticeable that the rear seemed to sway (i.e. fishtail) towards or away these road imperfections.
i have coilovers, rsb, and a rear camber kit. i just had my alignment done this morning.
when i noticed this sensitivity, my first assumption was that this was a combination of my rsb and fresh alignment.
comments? the fishtailing was very noticeable...
final alignment specs:
type = initial / final
------------------
left front
caster = +3.16 / +3.16
camber = -1.08 / -1.08
toe = 0 / 0
right front
caster = +1.96 / +1.96
camber = -0.96 / -0.96
toe = 0 / 0
left rear
camber = -1.00 / -1.04
toe = +1/16th / +1/16th
right rear
camber = -1.00 / -1.04
toe = +1/16th / +1/16th
i believe rear toe-in range is 1/16+-1/16inch

the camber kits are on securely.
did you mean you didn't notice the fishtailing feeling?
i'll have to clarify, this fishtailing only happened on a specific piece of road in the area @ ~60-70km/hr. i did not notice this fishtailing effect after my coilover install (was running -3 on the rear camber), only after my camber kit install and alignment.
i'm beginning to think it's a combination of the coilovers, rsb, camber kit, that induces more tramlining. this set-up makes steering much more sensitive. this is my assumption...
