Talking Another "help me choose some rims" thread

Hello all. I have a 2008 TSX CGP with gray interior and I want to put some new
rims and tires on.

I haven't looked around too much, but I like a couple of the rims I've seen from
RonJon. I want to put 19's on and I'm looking at these so far:

The Legend:

But I would choose the Liquid Graphite:

The Inspyre:

But I would choose the Liquid Graphite:

These look nice too, The AME Tracer FS-01

Probably the gunmetal one

What do you all think? ? ? ?

or any suggestions would be good. or pictures of nice setups would be great.
the price is not my concern, I want high quality and a nice look.

any others you think would be much better?
I plan on getting some Tien SS's too to go with it in the near future.
need to pick the rims first though.

If I had to go with one, it would be those AME rims (never heard of them before, are they of quality?). Sorry, but I'm not a fan of any of the RJ rims...I appreciate the fact that they sponsor this site...but the rims just look ricey to me, especially the Inspyers(the Legends look the best out of their line, I believe) But of course, that is just me.

Legends in Liquid Graphite. Excellent look, about the same weight as the stock wheels, and a great fit for the TSX.

Do you plan on getting the oem or an aftermarket lip kit? 19"s look out of place if you dont have a lip kit to match

sorry to edit if I were to choose, Legend's in liquid silver finish.

oh, I'll certainly get a lip kit, not sure at all which one yet though.
I definitely want to make the car look right.

I've been looking through the TSX Wheel Gallery and these ones look pretty
nice to me:

Volk GT-7

or maybe:

Kyowa Racing

opinions on these?

edit:

I don't care what brand they are, as long as the quality is tops.
any and all suggestions would be great.

well, okay, can you pick out a few of theirs and link to them?
I'll spend some time there looking a bit later too.

These do look kinda nice:

yeah, a poll would be good, but I have to narrow it down a bit more first.

the inspyres are out.

a bunch of the HRE wheels list themselves for certain car compaines.
how do I know if they'd even fit?

Well i guess the first question is how much do you really wanna spend $250 a wheel, $500 a wheel, $1500 a wheel? If you have the cash i would say go with volks i have a set and they are great, that or i have always has great luck with work. If you dont wanna spend that much i would say enkei.

well, I was looking at a bunch of the HRE wheels going for $1600+ a piece....

that may be a bit too much, but if I really liked one design....
but I don't.

I don't really care for the HRE wheels too much, none really strike me design wise.

I'd say around $1000 a wheel or so, or ... that would be about ideal.
less would be fine if I really like them.

I'm flexible.

HRE, BBS, iFORGED, & DPE are all great rims, but I think it would be hard to find rims from them that fit our cars. If I were to get rims for my TSX, they would either be Volks, Advans, or Mugens.

AME Wheels are manufactured by Enkei. They should be a high quality rim, and are lightweight since they use the MAT manufacturing process. Touge on the RL forum had the best looking RL I've ever seen, and he was running with the AME Wheels. Here's his car:

Well I'm still open to anything, but these are the ones I'm leaning towards:

AME Tracers
or
RonJon Legends
or
Mugen NRs
or
Volk GT Rs

those seem to be in the lead. probably in this order right now:
AME, Volk GT R, RonJon, Mugen

Hey etarui, thanks for posting that RL pic, that helps a bunch.
That is a nice RL for sure!
those Mugens are nice too, I just seem to like the AME's look a bit more.

you guys are helping a bunch, thanks.

Well, the AME's in 19" only come in 8.5 with a 40mm offset.

that seems to be too low of an offset for that wide of a wheel.

The Volk GT F's in 19" come in 8.5 with a 46mm offset.
that just may work.

so I guess right now I'm leaning towards the Volk GT F's.

Question, which would be better?

19 x 8.0 x 49mm offset
or
19 x 8.5 x 46mm offset

?

Have you thought of Volk CE28N's or TE37's? Can't go wrong with those

those top ones are pretty nice...

I really would like the AME's the more I think about it.

but I can't seem to find the answer if they'll fit or not.

19", 8.5", 40mm offset.

can anyone tell me if this is possible or not?

19x8.5 on a 40 offset will definetly be sticking out past the fender

AME's are built with quality. You don't need to be worried about "poor quality" or anything of that nature.

go with the AMEs. you don't have to worry about getting 19s with that wheel, stick with the 18s. it doesn't have a lip so it will actually look its size.

Yup.

If I get 18's they have to be ones without a lip, or it's a no go.
Those AME's just keep on creeping their way to the top of my list...

So I think it's decided.

I'll drop my car this week or weekend on Tein SS's, then after about a day
of that, I'll order up these AME's in Hyper Silver.

I'm struggling with what body kit to get though...
The Mugen is a bit too "fast" for me.
The Kenstyle will take too many mods (04-05 bumper and such + paint)
The OEM is too common and well, too common.
hmmmm.....

Thanks for the great help guys.
This site is sooooo much better than that other one that's full of people
full of themselves.

^^you could be my CGP twin and get the euroR kit

a body shop might be able to "retrofit" the rear of the kenstyle kit too (eliminating the need for an 04-05 bumper).

Well, yes, that might be possible.
But...

Well, this is what TSXinHI had to say about it:

"the sides will fit. the rear will need the 04-05 rear bumper to fit,
and the front will be a little off where the front of the hood lines up to the
kenstyle front bumper. you can probably live without buying the 04-05 hood, but
i'd suggest getting the older bumper. other than that, considering it's fiberglass,
fitment was perfect. i didn't have to bodywork anything. just bolted everything on
for testfit, then just straight to paint."

So the hood doesn't really fit right, and the back is a real stretch.
I'm not too keen on the Kenstyle grill either...
Not that I don't like it, I just don't really like it...

I don't like the Mugen grill much either.
I guess I like the stock grill....
I like the Honda one okay, but not enough to switch to it.

The Euro R kit huh?
hmm....

I saw a Euro R front lip with A-Spec sides and back, that looked pretty clean.
I like clean.

I'll investigate more. Thanks
