245/40R18 on an 8" wide rim?
I have bought 18" rims to possibly to go on an 09 TSX. They are 8" wide.
They are off an 08 Accord V6 coupe:
I was thinking of mounting 245/40R18 or 225/45R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires. Opinions on the wider tires on these rims. Will they fit well on the rims? Will they fit in wheel wells?
Thanks in Advance.

I say neither.
225 is not wide enough.
245 is too wide.
you have an 8 inch rim.
therefore you should be using 235 tires.
oh, and for the next question:
235/40
tire brand is your choice.

The only thing that would worry about the 235/40 R18 is that the diameter is 645mm compared to 657mm of the 225/50 R17 that comes on the 09 TSX. That is a difference of 12mm.
A 235/45 R18 has a diameter of 669mm, which is 12mm off in the other direction.
The 245/40 R18 has a diameter of 653mm which is only off my 4mm.
Tirerack says that 8" is the bottom of the range for these tires, but I am leary.

I think one problem here is that this is the First Gen TSX part of the forum...so I think we all assumed that you were looking for tires to fit a 1st Gen TSX, in which case the 235/40 recommendation was spot on for a replacement of 215/50-17's.
For the 2nd Gen TSX, you are, indeed, correct in stating that the stock size is 225...so, yes, the 245/40 is closer to the stock rolling circumference...
Os.

So far I have had mixed responces on a 245/40 fitting on an 8" wide wheel. Any other opinions on this?
