225/35/20 on a TSX?

I have had mixed opinions about 225/35/20 tires fitting on my TSX. Some say they will rub some say they wont. Im looking to put 20x7.5" rims on. Here are links to the tires and rims Im thinking bout:

Rims
Spinners
Tires

It comes to just under $2000 (including shipping) for 20s with spinners which IMO is a great deal. I just want to be sure that everything will fit perfectly. The seller of the rims said they will 100% fit my ride with 225/35/20 tires but isnt sure if they will rub. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I just picked up my TSX with navi yesterday

Uh, I cringe at the idea of spinners on a TSX but whatever floats your boat.

The wheels are going to stick out about 7/8" farther than stock. Grab a ruler and see if it will fit. Also your speedometer will read about 3% slower than you are actually going with those tires.

Here's another link on the subject: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9683

I measured the tire and its at least 7.5" wide. I looked it up and it supports a rim size of 6.0 to 7.5" so the 20s Im looking at should be the same with. Hmm I never though about it having an effect on the speedometer but that shouldnt be a big deal since its only 3%. Any other potential issues? I was told that with these low profile tires I should expect to get 20-25K miles out of them. Does that seem about right? They also need to be rotated a minimum of every 5K miles although I will probably do em every 3K when I get my oil done.

I know I saw the plastic hubcap spinners at walmart but do they carry the aluminum bolt-on type?

Thanks....

bolt on spinners will stick out on a tsx since u cant get a big enough lip on the wheels to let the spinner sit flush so it will stick out minium of 2 inches past wheel lip ,looks kinda cheap and ghetto to me but to each his own , david

Could you e-mail me those pics? JRic999@aol.com On the rims I was looking at the spokes seem to be inward rather then flush with the actual rim, which would allow the spinner to sit inside the rim with a flush look. Take a close look at the rims and see what Im talking bout. Do you think that will be enough space or would the spinner still stick out?

I started this thread to make sure that 20x7.5" rims using 225/35/20 tires will fit my 04 Acura TSX. So yes this thread is serious cause I plan on ordering the stuff next week once I confirm they will fit. I dont plan on putting plastic hubcaps on my ride. I plan on getting bolt-on spinners from an online vendor but somebody said I can get them at wal-mart so Im asking him which ones he saw.

And just to clear things up, I WASNT looking for rims or spinners at wal-mart. However, I do shop there and as I was going up and down the aisles and noticed the crappy plastic spinners they sell.

I was making a joke, for the record(and the best of my knowledge) walmart does not sell bold on type spinners. In all of the trade mags. they call spinners a dead trend, walmart sells knock-offs, the exclusivity that surrounds them is gone, the image is gone. And in a few years you'll be lucky(or maybe unlucky) to see any spinners being pushed- it seems the fad has ended.

Why do you want 20" wheels ? I could see it on a 7 series or an S class, but a TSX ?? I would never compromise the exceptional handling ability of my TSX by putting such big rollers on the car. As much as I like the look of 19" wheels on the TSX, I still think 18's offer the best compromise between performance and comfort. You are going to need an extra 200 HP to get those big wheels moving. Again, to each their own.

Edit: I just realized you are running 7.5" width which is probably fine. 225/30/20 might be a little closer to stock height.

I wonder how the spinners will affect the wheel balance... I'm assuming you have to balance the wheel/tire first, then bolt on the spinners. Doesn't that throw the whole balance off?

It will be a none issue, the spinners them selves are "balanced" in there design. Besides if your putting 20's w/35 series tires and spinners on your car ride and comfort are not high on your list of priorities

i dont see why yall think that 20 inch rims ride so rough on cars ive had 20's 22's and 24's and they dont ride that bad with a 35 series tire,if u drop the car u feel more then if your swap wheels out with 35 series tires.I bought 20 inch wheels for my tsx and i also bought 18 inch enkei wheels for my tsx for daily driving but the 20's dont ride bad at all when they were on the rsx but looked to big on the rsx , david and i also got 225/35/20 nittos for the iforged wheels for shows

I sold 3 sets of 20's last week alone. Some people just aren't aware of the damage they do to a vehicle. Wheel bearings, suspension bushings- in short it puts a lot of stress on the car for no real reason, from a purist stand point I don't like the idea(not to mention the decrease in fuel economy and speed). All of the energy that is typically absorbed by the tire is transfered directly to the suspension/chassis and you will experience premature wear on everything. Secondly selling the "bling" style wheel(which I NEVER advice to any client) I see just how poorly they are built, how poor the finish is- the only big wheels that remotely impress me are the big boys like HRE, Fikse and others of the same ilk. The rest are complete junk, wait a couple of years and you'll see the finish aging horribly. Not to mention the cheaper wheel companies change there product lines it seems every year, good luck if you bend a wheel and need one to match. This is of course just my opinion but I've seen to many people get really dissapointed with there purchase when they start to experience these problems themselves. Caveat emptor is all I am trying to say. From my experience its not worth the hassle to be "cool" but we are all different.

i dont have the 20's for a everyday set of wheels, i know they can mess up things over periods of time, but i got custom made iforged wheels which i have been told there right up there with hre and big name wheel companies i only got the 20's to use for shows and stuff like that i have a cheap set of gunmetal enkei's i will use for everyday driving with 225/40/18 inch nitto tires on them since more rubber means less damage from a pothole since i live in superbowl city and they have messed up everyroad they can trying to make them look better but i understand 110% about the 20's messing up things faster then it should ,but all in all my 20's are for show only ,david

Here are some pictures of my wheels on her car. I let her ride on them for a few days to see if they would rub and she had zero problems with them. So I dont see why they wouldnt fit on the tsx.

ill get you pics from the things in the garage later tonight CMF. Then this conflict is going to come to an end once and for all!

If you're going to do that for a show, you really should paint your rotor hats. Will look much better than the rusted out look you get on the rotor hats from wide open wheels. Not that the hats are any more rusted than usual, just much easier to see.

I didnt get my rims installed like they were supposed to on tues. After I get there they realized I have 20's and they cant fit them on the machine. They just assumed the rims were the same size that were already on the car. I found a place that can do 20's so Im gonna hopefully get em done this sat. The place goes by first come first serve (no appointments) so I dunno if it will get done sat. I will post pics whenever I get em done though.
