Hung with an M35

Yea, I know what you guys are thinking, I'm smoking crack. How did I hang with a 280hp car? Good question because I dont know myself...

I was at a light where just past the intersection several hundred feet, the road merges to one lane. So I'm in the right lane, M35 in the left. We both go and I got a decent jump, so through 1st we were dead even. In 2nd he started to pull but my nose was at his passenger door. By that time, we were at the merge and he had to cross the double line so I backed off.

Curb weight on that thing is 3889, so its a bit on the heavy side, so I guess that helped my cause a bit. Also they only sell those things in auto.

This link shows the road I'm talking about, going from right to left. You can see the merge arrows after the intersectionLinky

Well, I always thought you were smoking crack before this incident so that doesn't change anything.

But considering your mods, the fact that your car is a manual, and the fact that the M35 is almost 600 lbs heavier, I can believe it.

Well, engine wise all I have is the intake. Hell, if I was just hondatafied, I probably would have walked on him...

Did the M35 driver know you were "racing" him?

We both launched hard. Funny part is after I backed off, he was still hauling ass...

Sounded like fun.

I a similar experience with an M35 once only I walked him. I guess with my mods and the M's weight, it puts me ahead.

If it was an M45, that's a completely different story.

I can believe this....assuming the M35 is 3880 lbs/260 hp automatic tranny vs. a TSX is 3200 lbs/200 hp+intake and a 6MT with its closer ratios, its very possible to keep up.

Yup, always important to get visual confirmation of what someone's packing before you race.

my cousin has an M35x, used to be hard to keep up with him.. with me being an AT but now since he put the FX 20"s on his car and some TEIN S.Tech, it's no sweat to take him.. but his twin brother and his 350Z Grand Touring.. that's something else

How can a TSX hang with an M35, but a TSX can't hang with a G35 sedan or coupe (280hp Auto, 293hp Stick)?

You sure it wasn't an M35x? I just poked around on the net and the M35x has a tested 0-60 time of about 7 seconds flat which, with a less than stellar launch would mean the TSX could easily keep up.
