Has anyone been to the track yet?
Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum and like the TSX alot. I just wanted to know if you guys have been to the track in your 6spd or autos yet? I am curious to see how you guys would do against an accord like mine. I have seen many TSX's on the road and love the Hid's! Anyway any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

we don't have any timeslips yet but i'm sure people will get to the tracks at some point. Auto to auto the accord should be slightly quicker, mt tsx should be a little faster. I've done alont of analysis with stevtec(admin from some other sites) and it's interesting to note that the 2.4 in the tsx out torques the j30a1 below 4000 rpms. From 4000-6000 rpms the j30 will pull significantly harder with the k24a2 again out powering the j30 from 6000-7100rpm(it's a 6250 redline right?) that is of course in stock vs. stock configuration only. It all really comes down to gearing and in full out runs should be quicker as most of it's time will be spendin the 4-6000 range. the k24a2 has a lot more drivability to it for low rpm cruising.
oh damn, just realized you have a 2003! assuming you have an auto you'd smoke any tsx you see anyway

In the 6-speed, I've gotten a time of 15.5@90 in the 1/4. This is at San Antonio Raceway with about a quarter tank of gas, no adjustments to tire pressure, temp around 85, about 30% humidity, and no extra crap added to the car. I tried to maintain stock settings to get a realistic number. Sorry I have no slips uploaded with this. I know, I suck.

What I find funny about mags and their test drives is that the numbers that they come up with are pretty sad and inconsistent from what other mags get. Motor Trend recorded a 15.6 in the TSX. Another example: Road & Track claims that the RSX-S runs a 15.2 and the S2000 runs a 14.1. On numerous occaisions, I had taken both of these to the track (I've had both), and tested them out on a number of passes. I'd recorded a 14.0 and 13.9 repeatedly (track temp and humidity are the only things that can alter my times of course) on the S2000 and a 14.9 pass after pass on the RSX. Maybe I need to go be a driver for some of these mags. As for Motor Trend, their numbers always suck. I don't know what the hell their problem is. Maybe I'm just good or something. Though I know I'm not the only guy out there that has had a few years of amateur drag racing and one that has a couple certificates from Bondurant that would work for these magazines.
On the topic of traction off the line. I made launches at 3500 and 4500 with the VSA turned off, and had no real issues with hop off the line. I had to feather a little when I did the launches at 4500, and felt the car bogged a little to me when dropped at 3500. The times ended up being about the same on either pass when done at these revs from a start. I expected it to have more of an adverse effect on my times, but it wasnt' too aweful. My 60 ft. times weren't like I've gotten in the RSX, but they weren't bad. Usually around 2.3 unfortunately. The tires leave a little something to be desired when it comes to off the line grip and cornering, but what can you expect from all-season tires that are meant to last 40,000 miles? A nice set of Yoko ES100s could fix it for me.

worst case, assuming the manual loses 15% and the auto 25%(pretty high for a modern at) tha twould be about 20hp or so to teh wheels. The gearing differences + weight could account for the rest. But I don't think it would be all due to driveline loss.

We are also having to assume that TSXY is as good of a driver as me (no offense). Different drivers do make different times in the same car. Some better than others. I'd probably get a 16.2 or 16.3 in the auto most likely from what I've seen in the mags on the time differences between the auto and the 6-speed.

Well, until then, I'll atleast go ahead and pull the GTECH out of the Bimmer and give a few runs w/ it in the TSX, it'll give an idea of what the car can do anyway

IMO...because Honda only loans manual test cars to these magazines since they're faster! Honda knows the mags always record acceleration times, if some random person read the mag and saw a slower acceration time for the TSX then it would give a negative impression

i dont think tsx' will be that fast, just yET, i mean this thing weighs too much, my cl ran 15.3s all stock AUTo, these numbers dissappoint me. i miss my rsx too much!!! best was 14.5 and was heading to the lower numbers but did a sudden trade and lost it all oh well, like my sign. says. we'll meet again!!

I'll have mine at "the track" in a couple of weeks. I won't be able to provide timeslips though, because the track I have access to is about 3 miles long, has turns, elevation changes, etc. :-)
If I remember, I'll post my thoughts on the car.
