background info:
Mine - 04 6mt tsx w/ injen CAI in short ram
His - 06 5at tsx w/ injen CAI in short ram
no other major mods
from a dead start on an old deserted road...
we both skip a little at go, but I get the jump. he starts to even out when I do a quick shift to 2 and pull away as his shifts. by 3rd shift i am at least 1 car ahead. by the end of 3rd i am at least 2 cars ahead and we let it go when i redline at 3rd. so much for the added horsepower.
comment: the 06 with CAI is sooo much louder than my 04. it seems like his (AT) is always loud, while mine (MT) is only loud when i give the gas a good press. Although my CAI has been in for at least 5 months, his was in for about 5 minutes (ok, 45). I had just installed his and his ECU may not have had enough time to adjust yet. But it was loud as hell.
Bob, don't be mad. once you get your header we can race again and then i will get my supercharger!!!

Sure it's an automatic but there are still lots of things you can get wrong.

Let the ECU learn the intake and then do it again. I agree with CG, its a drivers race and launch would probably determine the winner.
Hi Bob, welcome to AZine. Oh, and turn off your A/C

If anything was a factor, gearing was. But even that shouldn't have made that big a difference.

I forgot about 1 more factor -- low miles on the 2006 = less power. So, you pretty much have:
- low miles on 2006
- Less HP to the wheels (the 5AT was in SRI mode -- not CAI)
- Looooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg gears of the 5AT

After my CAI install and winter coming around I've noticed when I push my car hard upon slowing down or stopping I have some pretty strong sulfur smells coming from my car. I still haven't figured out where the smell is coming from.. Buring too rich maybe, or the CAT maybe damaged?

As for the smell, it's probably the cat.

^^ not an expert on this but it should adapt over the course of 3 - 4 start/stop cycles of driving. A cycle means starting the car, letting it warm up, driving it around, then turning it off. I would cycle with spirited driving, good pulls off the line throught the first couple of gears, to make the ECU adjust for performance rather than economy. My ![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
My guess is that this is similar to when the ECU throws a CEL (check engine light) due to a gas cap that is not tightened properly. Once you tighten the cap you need to drive it a few cycles to let the ECU learn that the cap is back on correctly. Once it does the CEL will turn off indicating that the ECU has adaped to the new input.

Yeah I think they should go do it again and do it right this time ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Plus, racing is fun! I wonder if you could neutral drop the AT, then swing it into SS mode before it shifts into 2nd? That would be the way to launch an AT. heh.

Yeah I think it should have at least been a little closer. Let the ECU learn first of all, that's really important. And also he should race in SS mode. Good race though

yeah, i think we all know that. that's why i said it was in short ram. If i had typed Injen short ram, some smartass would have said that it is an Injen Cold Air Induction system in short ram mode....

we will go again very soon. both in full CAI, both with A/C off and VSA off and his will be in SS. the problem is: what excuse will the AT drivers here have after i win that one?

If he's worth his weight in salt, and you're not Helio Castroneves, you won't
Sorry, but the 06 made some good gains for minimal changes. Race me to find out... but I'll cheat and run you off the road
