Whole car shaking
Whole car shaking
So when I start driving today, i suddenly feels that when I hit the brake to make a turn, the whole car will start shaking. The steering wheel keep on shaking until i let go of the brake.
So do you guys think that it is because i need to change my brake pad? or is it because the rotor is not straight?
but I has never hit any curb or anything like that.
This was my first time to feel that.
My car has 55800 miles on it. so I will need to do the big service later.
please help.

It's probably the common brake problem a lot of people on here have. You probably need new pads. The OEM ones are shit and I replaced them at 28,000 miles due to massive shaking/vibrating. Drove me nuts. Search for it, you'll find many threads.

From what you describe its one of two things:
1. (more likely) brake pad deposits on rotor. Get new brake pads (Hawk HPS?).
2. (less likely) warped rotors. Turn the rotors or get new rotors.
At 41,000kms (about 25K miles) I'm starting to get a steering wheel vibration on moderate to heavy braking - even some seat shaking (indicating a rear problem too). I'm also thinking its deposits on the rotor.
Since I'm in the warranty period....do you think they will resurface all 4 rotors free of charge? I've got about 80% of rear pads left so they can't say I'm heavy on the brakes (i.e wear and tear).

There is a new TSB out (07-021, Issued April 19, 07) addressing the shimmy in the brakes. The corrective action is to refinish the front brake disks and install new front brake pads. I'll update the TSB section when I get the TSB hosted.

Edit: At least they have recognized the problem, I guess.
