What's wrong with my car?

I have a 2006 TSX with approx. 35,000 miles. Just had service but since warranty expired didn't replace battery at dealers. Had the oil changed but the car is emitting a burning smell and it seems like the water temperature is getting higher. Not quite to mid point. Just had it balanced and new tires. Not sure if transmission fluid was replaced.

Not too much to go on here. About the only possible cause of an unusual odor based on what you've provided is possibly oil spillage from changing the oil filter (changing the filter can be pretty messy if not done by someone experienced). And that shouldn't have any effect on the temperature (unless they forgot to put the oil in and then you've got larger problems). And just a little advice, when you get your car serviced, you may want to be aware of what they're actually servicing (and why and how much it costs). Also, your car has a maintenance "minder" which indicates what needs to be serviced and when. It's considered to be a pretty handy tool in providing a system for properly maintaining your car. All that said, if you think there's something wrong, take it back to where you had it serviced and tell them what's going on.

I know this is sorta old but haven't heard a response back from him so wondering what happened. I agree with Simba's assumption about the oil spillage burning off though. You should check the oil level, be sure the drain bolt was replaced and filter properly put on. You'd be surprised how many stories I've heard of ppl forgetting to put back on your drain bolt.

JW, how/why are you out of warranty, isn't it 5 yrs/50K miles?

Did Acura change the warranty for more modern TSXs?

Isn't the warranty now 5 years/50K or 5 years/60K?
