What Caused the Lurch and how to fix

Pulling out this AM from a dead stop from my usual 'hot spot' for fresh produce, onto rt 22; a busy, built up 2 lane highway in NJ, I experienced a lag, a lurch of sorts that I have experienced before–when standing on the throttle–when I need to get out ahead of traffic. It was a bit disorienting to me. It was not like I was 'cutting in' on traffic, but, a maneuver that had to preformed quickly. Once I let up on the gas, the TSX took off nicely. What can I do to correct it?

Yikes. You definitely don't want to mess around on Rt. 22. Need to get out there and going pretty fast. As for the lurch, I'm not sure how to fix that.

When I first got my TSX I dealt with the dreaded "lurch" problems. I wasn't used to DBW and had to relearn how to shift.

Are you sure you didn't just eff up the shift?

Once I'm going–I'm gone!! haha! And a 'lurch' is not that accurate a description. Its like the throttle is ahead of me–or, too much throttle for what I need at the moment. Hard to describe. Like a 'big' hesitation would be a good description.

Don't think so. I mean, I was in gear, ready to pop the clutch. It was like this 'gush' of power (haha) then a hesitation sensation. Like I wasn't in sync with the vehicle.

Nope. Never have it on. Ever. Happened so quickly. When The car felt under control again, in a split second, I was off and running.

How's your oil level? When the oil level is low, I definitely feel it when coming off the line.

It's the POS DBW on our car. I don't think there's a fix without reprogramming the ECU. You may experience bucking during acceleration from a dead stop which feels like throttle on/off. IMO, it's the worst part of the TSX.

So you manually turn off the VSA every time you start the car?

Ah! That's probably what it is. I've experienced the 'bucking' you describe, even after the hondata reflash.

No it's always on unless you manually turn it off every time you start the car. It's in the owner's manual.

Sounds exactly like VSA/Traction control kicking in. Likely one (or both) of the front wheels started to slip and the VSA reduced power output to compensate

I agree. After driving my '04 for the last four years, this is the area of greatest annoyance to me if not possibly a cause of some dangerous situations. Although it rarely happens to me now, the times it seems to raise its ugly head the most is when I hammer the throttle while the car is barely moving. I've learned to anticipate those times a little better and will "give it a little foot input" before going full bore. Instant pedal to the metal input seems to overload the DBW system for a split second producing one of those F*** Me moments. I'd really like to not have to think about it but given no available fix I've learned to live with it. I would hope that the Gen2 TSX is hesitation free.

There have been a number of posts about this and most (including myself) seem to agree that if you ease on the throttle rather than just stomping it, the car gets moving much more reliably.
