Weird noise coming from the engine.

Everytime my car is in park, the engine starts making this rattling noise like chug chug chug. Is this normal? Its not that loud but you hear it up close. I just purchased My Tsx about a month ago. Its an automatic with 3k miles.

Thanks alot!

If you're referring to the relatively high-pitched rattle (like tow plastic pieces are hitting each other) that comes and goes ... it's what Acura considers normal. In fact, if you listen carefully you can hear when you accelerate.

At first, I thought it was just my 04, but I've heard it in every TSX loaner (both 05 and 06) I've had.

Unless ... it's something else.

I think that's the timing chain that you are hearing. Most cars use a belt so they are a bit quieter. But Honda uses a chain for thier new 4 cylinders for better reliability long term.
