VSA light

I have a 2004 TSX automatic with 25K miles. Thank goodness it is still under warranty.

Almost a month ago the VSA light came on when I turned on the ignition and tried to put the car into gear. I say "tried" because the shifter locked. I had to use the manual release to put the car into drive so I could get it to the dealer.

The dealer traced the problem to a faulty brake switch. They replaced the brake switch. All was fine until yesterday when the VSA light came on again, this time while I was driving. Once I put the car into park, the shifter again locked up. I had to use the manual release to get the car into gear and take it to the dealer.

Anyone have an idea what's going on? Is this indicative of a major problem with the electrical system? I am waiting to hear from the dealer's service department. Thanks in advance for any advice/assistance.

problem solved?

Update (in case anyone is interested): The dealer did not find any systemic electrical problems that may have caused the brake switch to short out for second time in a month. They replaced the rear brake switch as well as a fuse.

Here's hoping that I don't see the VSA light on again next month.

Problem solved

I am posting the solution here to the problem with my VSA light in case others experience the same weirdness.

I ended up taking my TSX to the dealer three times before they found the problem - a short in the horn. Every time I hit the horn, the short caused the VSA switch to burn out. As soon I put the car into Park, the gear box would then lock up.

Short has been fixed. Horn now works. VSA works. I am once again a happy TSX owner.

Yeah, the gear shift lock engages when it detects failure. I.E. Blown Fuse.

I blew a fuse and it locked up. Stuck a key in the hole to shift into D, drove home, changed fuses, and wa la!
