Voided waranty, what would one do?

A common concern on this board is having ones warranty voided. Im wondering..what would one do if it did get voided.. what are the best ways to take care of your car by yourself...?

Be very consciencious with maintenance and it should help save you a few repairs.

Just follow the dealer suggested maintenance and you should be alright.

That's not necessarily true. You might shell out a few more bux right now compared to DIY, but unless you are as consciencious as the dealer, that extra money you put in will help you last your car a lot longer, at a much lower cost. It's called looking ahead.

This might also help you if you have problems in the future. If your complete maintenance history is in their computer, there can be no disputes.

This has saved me many $$ over the years at my Honda dealership.

I thought the whole point of getting a Honda is to not have to worry about repairs/warranty claims. Just use the maintenance section of the manual as your guide and you'll be fine.

RMATIC09, don't forget that the Magnuson-Moss Act protects you if you choose to modify you car.
The only way your warranty can be "voided" is if they can prove that your modifications caused the malfunction. For example, you install a CAI then drive through a flooded street and hydrolock your engine. That would obviously not be covered by your warranty. But if your car wouldn't start one day and it turned out to be an electrical problem, the dealer can't say that it was your CAI that caused the problem and not fix it.

Sure they can and probably do all the time - the trick is for the owner to be informed enough to know he's getting hosed. Hence the reason for sites like this.

Unfortunately you're right. But fortunately he's now in the know.

But 70% of dealers would try and probably get away with it.
