Brake Problems

I'm growing very impatient with the brakes that are on the TSX.

It's well known that the TSX is -very- under braked for a car its size.

My morning commute is about 20 minute and it's most all down hill, so I probably have more brake wear than the normal driver.

I bought my TSX May 03, had front pads replaced Jan 04, rear pads May 04, and now my rotors are a bit warped and need to be resurfaced. I've got the shimmies!

Anyways, I'm curious what other TSX owners have done about this problem? The brakes are now out of warranty, so I'm thinking long term. I cant afford to own a car that needs a brake job every 6 months.

I'm looking into getting a bigger brake kit put on the front (Stoptech, Rotora, ect.) for a long term solution so the brakes will wear out at a normal rate, and also give me stopping power which hopefully I'll never need

I'm curious as to others experiences with the TSX brakes and any solutions you guys may have come across to help with this problem.

Much of the wear depends on the pad material. A bigger brake kit might also help but only if equiped with the right pads. Look for longer lasting pads.

@ biker but seldom do longer lasting pads = better performance which it sounds like he's after.

WndrBr3d, changing the pads is a very simple process to do yourself. It's one of those things that dealers charge a ton for but really isn't very hard. Maybe instead of taking it in for a brake job you could do the work yourself and save some $$$.

You certainly do go through brakes quickly. I thought I wore my brakes a lot but I guess not. I'm still on the original brakes. I bought my TSX in April 03.

"It's well known that the TSX is -very- under braked for a car its size. "

I don't agree. The TSX's brakes are ok but should it should have slightly better brakes. I wouldn't say "the TSX is -very- under braked".
