Uh Oh...Smoke from Engine

Dang...what a shitty ordeal Joe. Sucks that you've had to go through this. It would have pissed me off if the service advisor would have came back with accusations. They messed it up, so they should be fixing it with a smile. It sounds like you're handling it all the right way though. Try to be nice to the service manager until they fix it, then call him a fucktard after
Definitely keep us posted, and let us know what they say after the next call.

Ok, finally got a hold of the service rep. Bottom line, its all being taken care of I'll find out more regarding getting a warranty extension later, but at least no more worries about the warranty work...

All's well that ends well
Got the car back today. Tranny was replaced with a remanufactured one, but is covered by the full factory warranty starting today. So I cant complain about that.
I'm still convinced that the half-shaft seals are to blame like JTso said, but of course they're not going to admit to it. They charged $1600 just to labor, cant imagine what the parts would have cost Neither of which I paid
As far as the drive, its a good as the day I drove it off the lot. They must have worked on the clutch as well because its back to its silky smooth self again. Shifts are crisp and the gearing feels good and smooth through the range, well at least to 4K...ok 5K
Acura service was pretty outstanding. Besides the fact that they somewhat tried to pin it on me, they still took care of it really with no questions asked. I had a loner car for the entire time it was in the shop which was, of course, very helpful. They even cleaned the underbody of all the MTF that exploded under the car.
I would give Acura of Temecula a 9 out of 10 on this one. The one point loss was because the service tech called me maybe 1 time out of the two weeks I was there. Rest of the time I had to call in to find out statuses.
Happy camper

Good for you! I'm kind of surprised that they didn't simply drain the original tranny and measure how much MTL was left, then compare it to how much it should be. If it was only a small amount of fluid loss, I would just replace the seal and refill the fuild. However, you came out ahead on this one.

Sounds similar to my outlook on Acura service after my engine burning oil problem. The initial thought on their part was it was 100% my fault, go away mr. complainer. Then after much persuasion and a few raised voices in front of people browsing the new car showroom, they got the wheels rollin' on the new engine install. After a rebuild, which did nothing, they replaced the short block (block and all its contents).
Once the warranty work was approved, the service guys were SO much nicer, and the tech (the head tech at the dealership, 20+ years on Honda/Acuras) went out of his way to polish the Injen CAI, and even fix a few things (clutch adjustment, timing chain tensioner adjustment, new MTF, and even fixed the crankcase breather tube that was always coming loose (it's a CAI part that was faulty, but he replaced it w/ a straight hose and it looks + performs better)).
So I guess once you crack that hard-shelled exterior, the service departments usually are all nice and friendly.

Glad to hear that all is well with the whole thing. Even if you don't pursue the avenue of getting an extension on the warranty, the tranny might still be covered outside of warranty since it was an issue while under warranty. At least that is the way it went with my previous cars suspension problem. I don't know if that is the way things are supposed to go, but that is the way I forced it.
