TSX Low Beam Bulb Replacement

Please someone help me with this problem. My 2004 TSX just had a bulb blow on the driver side and I find out that I'm supposed to bring my car to the dealership to get this fixed?!? I have searched threads for this subject and found some, but not detailed information.

Has anyone just replaced the burned out bulb with a new one? If so, is it difficult?

Are there any online guides for doing this?

I don't want to upgrade to any new hid bulb. Just replace with the same.

The dealership says that it could be more than just the bulb and that they need to inspect the housing and wiring for additional problems. If I can be sure its ok to open the housing and inspect, then I can check all that for myself.

Please reply with any experience or details.

I've never replaced mine but to do it you have to first take off the screw and the cover behind the bulb. If you go to the dealer they will charge like $125-150 for one bulb but you can find some Philips or Sylvania pairs on ebay for $100-150. It's recommended you replace both at the same time anyway so I would just check ebay. HIDs can seriously injure you if you don't take the precaution of disconnecting your battery first (but make sure you have your Navi or Audio system codes). Maybe someone could scan you a page out of the helms manual on how to remove a bulb if you need detailed instructions.

Appreciate the quick reply! That's what I figured. I had no interest in throwing out money to the dealership if I didn't have to. I found this price for the bulbs. Has anyone purchased these before? Are they equal to oem?

Also, if anyone could scan that page in the Helms book on how to remove the bulb properly, I would be indebted to you forever...

Any D2S bulb should work fine, and the stock color temperature is 4300k. The higher the color temp such as 6000k, 8000k etc. actually gives less light output. You should really check ebay and buy a pair from there and replace both bulbs at the same time...you'll save money that way. Just type in "D2S HID Philips 4300k" in the ebay search and you'll find a few results from reputable sellers. Good luck.
