TSX Leather..(Durability)

Hello all,

I'm just curious how durable the 04-08 TSX leather/viny seats are. I currently have an 07 TSX with 17k miles, and my Ebony driver's seat looks terrible. I'm assuming that Acura won't take care of this under warranty, but I hate to have to deal with it looking this crappy for quite awhile.

Also, can the side bolster viny cover be replaced? The rest of my seat isn't too bad, but the side bolster is terrible (from getting in and out). If so, does anyone have any ideas what this would cost to replace?

Lastly, has anyone encountered any kind of scratches in their ebony interior from buttons on the back of jeans, etc.?

Thanks much!

Jeff

P.s. If anyone has a TSX with like 80+ miles on it, and a recent picture of their leather, I would love to see how it looks.

I have an 06 with +32,000 miles with the quartz interior. I try to condition the leather seats (front and back) every 45 days or so. Other than a few wrinkles, I think I will get to the 100,000 mile mark without any major problems.

I only own two pairs of jeans and only wear them during the winter months. My wife and I are mostly business casual most of the time and that might help with reducing interior wear and tear.

If you wear denim alot, your seats are gonna wear pretty fast. Denim is the worst material to wear if you want to prolong the life of a seat. Its so abrasive. I have 22K on my 07 parchment and it still looks good. I try to condition it with Lexol every oil change or twice in one oil change.

Yup, I do tend to wear jeans often. Looks like my leather won't be lasting too long

How much is a leather seat cover replacement? Since I do all of my service at the Acura dealership, including B services, do you think that they might goodwill a new seat cover for me at 50k?

Depends on the dealer- I wear jeans and my ebony interior still looks excellent. I clean and condition it often. My 06 tsx, bought new 11/17/06, has 54,000+ miles

A timely thread for me. I went to condition the seats in my TSX this weekend and found what appeared to be the beginnings of a rip on the outer edge of the drivers seat. I have a 2006 with 36k miles.

I also noticed discoloration when comparing the outer pieces to the inner pieces. Compared to previous cars I've owned with leather, the TSX seats are much lower in quality. This is probably the only disappointment I have with the car.

Get some car seats, that way your leather won't wear as fast. I did for my Accord, and my leather looks great, even after four years!

Take a look at the "Colin's poke test" thread in the general section 1st TSX section. More info there.

If you go with car seat covers make sure they are made compatible with the TSX seats. The TSX seat has a side bolster airbag and you want to make sure the car seat cover doesn't interfere with its operation.
