Trunk light goes out at full open

Anyone had a problem w/ the trunk light before? I noticed a couple of days ago that my trunk light was out, I thought it was just the bulb, but actually I noticed the bulb is on until the trunk is about 1/2 way up, and then it goes out.

If I move the trunk up and down, it turns on and off, seems like a loose wire or something. Anyone know where the wire is back there? The light isn't on the trunk itself, which makes me wonder why the opening trunk would affect it

Did you get the wiring harness recall performed? I know that the recall required messing around back there somewhere so this might have been an inadvertent side-effect.

Did it more than a year and half ago, seems strange for it to happen now

Perhaps they didn't do a good job. I would inspect that area to verify.

In a related note, the button on my trunk and the key fob trunk release don't work sometimes. The regular trunk release always works, but for some reason the other methods don't work sometimes. Off to the dealership for a checkup I guess

Just an update, my right rear brake light has been out for a while (the one next to the reverse light) so I went to get a new bulb from the dealership today. replaced it, and the light still doesn't work... so its probably tied into all the other problems I'm having w/ my trunk

I'm guessing this is related to the recall since the original recall was due to lights going out, but I had it done 2 years ago. I'll update when I take it in to the dealership

update, finally took my car in for service. my service advisor called me back and told me the wiring harness had been damaged and they're replacing it under warranty. i'm guessing it has something to do w/ the recall, they probably didn't do it right the first time
