Transmission Recall
Bought my TSX on Monday from Arlington Acura in Palatine, IL. Today (Thursday) I get a call from the service manager saying they need to recall the car to replace the entire transmission! I can't find any info out there about a recall on the TSX, although plenty of Honda's are being recalled for transmission issues:
http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...tm?POE=MONISVA
They told me that my car was only one of a few that had a manufacturing defect in the transmission. F**cking pisses me off that they obviously knew about this issue when they sold me the car, called and ordered the new trans as soon as it was sold. Anybody else out there get the same call?

Did you just buy your TSX? If so there was a kind of recall on some of them. They weren't exactly recalled they just were supposed to be held on the lot by the dealer and not sold until they could be tested. Do a search on this site I'm sure you will find something. But this is unrelated to the Honda Recall. There is not any offical recall on the TSX.
supposed to be certain vin range only. What is your VIN? I got caught in that mess, but finally waited til last week and picked one up well outside the VIN range. Originally told they could not sell any until they made sure the tranny was alright. I wonder how your dealer got around this?
The dealer should have known something on Monday when you got the car if he called 3 days later.
Might as well go out and do a few neutral drops before you drop it off for the tranny repalcement.

Let me take my sugestion back - you don't want to that neutral drop - even if you are getting a new tranny - many other parts of the drivetrain get un-necessarily stressed when one does that.
Thanks for the info everyone. My VIN does fall within the range listed in the other thread on this topic. The dealer did say there was an issue with the casing, but told me that they received an entire new transmission as a replacement, I'll make sure I get the real story when I pick the car up. They had a "Do Not Sell" paper sitting on the dash before I test drove, I dismissed it as a sales tactic but now I'm not so sure. This is really shady.

BTW, neutral drops = broken tranny
so what happened when you picked up your car? were they honest with you concerning the whole replacement of the transmission casing? my car has been at the libertyville dealer for 8 days now and still waiting on what they plan on doing. they're saying that they ordered a new transmission and i should have my car back by friday of this week at the earliest. did you trying to get a completely new car? i mean it was their mistake of selling you a car that wasn't suppose be be sold because they new of an inspection of the transmission.
I bought my car about a week ago, and just found out about this recall!! My VIN doese fall in to that range and they haven't contacted me yet. Since I bought the car, I suspect that it has clunk when first shift into drive at take off, I can even feel like something kick up underneath the car. In auto manual mode, some time it doesen't wanna shift, especially on the shift down. Let alone the passenger door, middle console, and moonroof visor rattle.
I'm gonna go to the darn dealer today and see what they have to say, hate this dealer, gonna sue they @ss off if I need to!!!

i got the low down on neutral dropps. my friend has an 88 bmw 325i coupe auto. he did about 25-30 netural drops in a year and the transmission blew, and he had to get a new one, one look from the mechanic and he knew exactly what my friend did. So the moral of the story is if you do neutral drops in your auto tsx, chances are warranty isn't gona cover it

neutral drop= comming to a stop, putting the car in neutral, revving the engine up to like 5000 rpm then with the gas still pressed shit to drive or one of the drive gears normally first. When done correctly the car will peel out and it might look cool key word here is might. Now my friend did this neutral drop routine about 25-30 times and then the tranny blew. so moral of the story is when you have an automatic don't shift it and pretend its a manual. Auto's are build so that you don't have to shift. well unless your parking or goin into reverse
This is really interesting, so can I switch from Auto to Manual shifting mode while driving ?
There no 'neutral drop' is involved, or this is still a bad idea ? If so, haw to use manual shifting at all ? I thing it supposed to be designed to handle such situation.
Thanks.

keep in mind that my friend's beamer already had 100,000km before he started doin neutral drops. you can switch from manual to auto in your tsx whenever you want no damage done its pretty much like you shifting between 1'st and 2nd 3rd and drive in a normal automatic. people due neutral drops because it somewhat resembles dropping the clutch on a manual car.
