Tranny Problem 06 TSX need advise / help

Hi guys, new to this site and unfortunately, have to begin with a problem. I just had the 60k service done and the tranny fluid was replaced with genuine honda atf at the Acura dealership ($180 total for the 60k service). I live in an apartment complex and can’t service the car on my own. I tried to rent a bay from Jiffy Lube but they didn’t let me for safety reasons. Any ways, the car at 62k and I bought it with 50k. It ran perfectly and I have been extremely satisfied. After replacing the fluid, it was running fine. My sister is currently visiting me and wanted to drive it. I was like okay. We went out to drive and apparently she put it into manual accidently. Without realizing, she hit the gas at the stop light and went up to 35mph in 1st gear without shifting up. I realized the engine making a lot of noise and shifted it back to auto when I noticed what had happened. Now for the past two days, my shift from 1st to second have been odd. Its like I press the gas, but its not as responsive as it was before and feels like I’m almost in neutral before it engages and starts moving. Should I start saving for a new tranny? Also, I replaced the battery. Would this have reset the ECU? I know in some cars, the ECU adjusts to your driving habit and if it was reset, maybe it would take it some time to adjust to me.

One final question, does anyone know the warranty on the transmission. It’s a 2006 Acura TSX. I called the dealership to set up an appointment and “surprisingly” they don’t have a record of me in their database even though I got it serviced there. I told them that I would call back after talking with my legal advisor and all of a sudden they found my record. I’m going in for a checkup tomorrow and wanted to get some opinions before.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. FYI, your car should still be under power-train warranty, which is 6 years/70,000 miles.

i believe ecu will re-learn if the power of off long enough like 2 or 3 hours. however, i don't think the slowness of your car is related to the tranny, over-rev cause more issue to engine but then, you can't over-rev in a 5AT. you can try a few WOT and see if ECU switch to the sport mode after. floor mate stuck under the accelerator? or flat tires?

Does sound pretty odd. As stated above, you won't over rev the engine (and it doesn't matter if it's auto or manual. The rev limiter on the 06's is set at 7200). I used to bounce my 05 off the limiter pretty often (before my self imposed 6500 redline once I passed 100K) and it makes no difference; Honda engines love to rev. I'd say a trip to the dealer is in order.
