Time to get new calipers?
Time to get new calipers?
So I got my car almost a year ago today, everything has been a smooth road so far, no major problems. It all started after I blew my tire on a pothole(New England streets :thumbsdowI) had to replace my brake pads in January then about a month after that I noticed my car started pulling to the left when I brake. My one friend said one of my calipers could be sticking and I was reading online that the calipers could be worn down. I was thinking about getting them checked out, but I'd rather not have to pay 50 bucks to get my brakes checked out. Btw, the reason I mentioned the blown tire is because the rim was slightly bent so Im wondering if that could be a reason to why car started pulling. Anyway, I hope someone could help me out, haven't been disapointed by acurazine results yet.
+1. Also did you replace the rim? Balance out the tires to make sure they're good? Perhaps a really bad pothole messed up an axle etc. Never heard of a brake caliper causing pull.
The tire that was slightly bent was the front right. I moved that tire to the back right when I put my pads on just so I didn't have one of my drive wheels bent. I got the car alligned again when I got my new tire put on, so I assumed that they wouldn't have put the tire on if the rim was too messed up, but I could be wrong. I may end up getting the rim rebalanced but I was either planning on getting new rims, or upgrading to a TL-S
Check the Rotors
It sounds to me like you have a warped rotor. Did you buy the car new? How many miles does it have on it?
If you burned through a set of pads in your first year of owning a new car, I would bet that you also have some serious wear on the rotors. You might want to think about getting them turned (not something I generally recommend except when the car pulls).

Jack up the front, pull the handbrake, put car in neutral, spin both tires to see if one is harder to spin than the other, to confirm if the caliper is sticking/seizing. Worst case, you could just take off the wheel, and follow the the DIY for brake pad replacement to check to see if the caliper piston moves back in.
Edit: Since you replaced the pads recently, I'm assuming you didnt notice anything strange when you did it. If that's the case, your caliper seems fine.
