Sunroof Rattle

So I was driving with the radio off last night and I started hearing a rattle coming from my sunroof as I was driving. It almost sounded like little marbles kept hitting it. It got worse as I went over bumps. Has anyone here experienced this?

happy to say NO. my 06 6spd with 23,700 miles is very quiet-no rattles (Knock-on-wood). since the car is under warranty take it to the dealer and explain the problem to them.

Open your sunroof and apply white lithium grease to the rubber seal around your glass panel (spray on rag and wipe the rubber) and also spray the rails the roof slides on. Do the same with your windows and window track.

so I've noticed that this only happens late at night when there is more humidity in the air. will the solution above still work?

My sunroof rattles like crazy. I bought that white Honda grease to put on it, but it didn't help. I had the dealer look at it, that didn't help. Guess it's just something you have to live with, even though it is SO annoying, and really embarrassing when you have passengers.

Still under warranty, yes. Whatever the dealer did, didn't help, though. I just think it's the parts, and no matter what you do to them, they'll make this rattle & drive you nuts.

You can also try treating the rubber seals with Lexol. It stopped all my sunroof and window creaks.

My sunroof did the same, so I lubed all of the rubber with silicon spray and that was about 2 months ago, no rattle since.

I have an 07, and I also had sunroof rattles. I would get the creaking sound when the sunroof was closed, and the shade was in the open position. After awhile, a rattle developed when the sunroof was in the tilt position. In addition to that, I was getting a "popping" type sound when I would open the sunroof (tilt or to fully open position). I asked the dealership to take a look at it during my second service. The tech liberally lubed the sunroof tracks, seals, etc with white lithium grease. I haven't had a problem since! Try that stuff, it works great!

I took advice from a thread on these forums and bought some stuff at Home Depot called "Jig-A-Loo Spray". It's in an orange can. It's awesome. Basically you spray a bunch of it on a paper towel and apply it all over the rubber seal around the physical sunroof glass itself (use both the vent and open positions to get as much as possible) and also spray it into the tracks and basically all over the whole sunroof mechanism.

Stopped my rattling problem lovely. You have to repeat this process every couple of months but to me it's worth it, and cheap.

Just noticed that my sunroof also started to rattle........just like what CGTSX said, sounds like a marble hitting something..........

donno if that's due to the colder weather now in PA, kinda annoying, need to try those methods mentioned above.

I have had the same problem since I have had my 06. Instead of just closing the moonroof and the shade as well, I just keep it open on tilt all the time, even in the dead of winter just so I don't need to listen to it.

What plastic bar? Were you able to fix it? If so, how? Any pics? I also now have the marble sounds rattling in the moon roof. At first I thought it was over by the passenger door. My wife said it sounded like it was on the drivers side. We both concluded it was the moon roof, which was open at the time. When I closed the cover we couldn't hear it. Must be something loose.

I had this problem in my 04. Seemed to occur in warmer months when it was more humid (but not wet). Sounded like ice cubes colliding with the walls of a plastic cooler filled with ice water. They lubed mine but it would eventually come back in like a month. Finally they applied some clear tape to the surface of the roof that the rubber perimeter of the sunroof touches and I've not had the problem since. The job is clean and you have to look for it to see it, and even then only when the glass is open.

Unfortunately I still get this problem with my side window seals and don't expect to be able to solve that one permanently.
