Sorry for reviving an old thread, but figured this was the best place to post.

My friends 2006 TSX got a Check Emissions message, VSA light, CEL and an exclamation point in her gauge cluster.
  • I plugged in a Bluetooth OBDII dongle and using Torque on my phone, the code that popped up was P2138 (did some research and ordered the APP sensor).
  • I replaced the APP sensor a week later (today). The car drives much smoother than before.
  • The gauge cluster was still lit up like a Christmas tree so I disconnected the battery for 20 minutes.
  • Most lights cleared except the check VSA error message is still there.
  • I ran my scan tool again and no codes popped up.
Short of going to the dealer, is there anything I can do to make the VSA message go away? Has anyone else had this problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Question Still haven’t solved it

I replaced my app sensor on my 05 TL( 183K) and it did the same thing where it will go into what feels like neutral (limp mode) but it won’t even let me limp anywhere, it’s just dies without the engine turning off. Has anyone figured out if you have to wipe the previous code or if I have a whole new issue. The CEL turned off but it failed 40 secs after I installed the new one. What is going on?

Hello all, I realize this thread is old, but I too have the same conditions as many here have mentioned....lights, surging and acts like stuck in 2nd gear. My question is what scan tool/tools does everyone use to pull codes??
I intend to buy one and need to know that the one I use can read the "CAN" communication data line correctly. I'm willing to pay around $50-80 for one that will work properly.
Thanks for reading...The car is a 2008 TSX, 170K, Jerry

Autozone and Amazon

The original poster indicated that he bought the replacement part(37971-RBB-003) for $140 at Honda Parts Unlimited. As of today that store is selling the part for $254. That is highway robbery as Amazon has the same part for $50 with Prime free shipping.
Another person asked how they can get the code removed and the check engine light to go off. I took my car to Autozone and they did a reading in less than 10 mins and cleared the code and light. Autozone does not carry this part and just referred me to a dealer.
It is not a difficult part to replace and there are a few YouTube videos showing how to do it in less than 15 mins.
