Strange rotor noise

Heya guys,

After pulling out of my school lot today I noticied that I was having a strange metally scraping noise coming from my front right tirewell. I tested this for a good 20 mins and the noise only occured when I was idling. A friend of mine stood outside the car when I did this and it was quite audible both on the outside and inside and it was clearly coming from the front right tire. After braking really hard on purpose in the snow (ABS engaged) the noise seemed to have gone away. I tested the car again for about 20 mins and didn't hear the same noise again. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Was there something stuck between the rotor and the caliper, or is this a more serious problem?

I have a 2006 TSX with only 8500 miles on it so I figure that the rotors and brakes are still in very good condition.

Thanks!

I may have heard this once or twice. I too have a 2006 but only 1500 miles. Seems to happen when I'm pulling into my parking spot are work while I'm turning left and slightly on the brakes. Almost sounds like the wheel bearings.

If the rotors were wet from the moisture/snow and the rotors got wet, it might just be that the rotors had oxidized with a rusty film residue. The first few times you brake will wipe it clean and the noise will dissipate. My RSX often had this noise problem because the rotors are exposed to the elements with the wide spoke rims.
