Strange Engine Sound
Strange Engine Sound
Recently I noticed that when I let go of the gas after revving to at least 3k rpm, there is a light 'grrr' sound coming from the front. So it goes like 'vrrrooomm' and then 'grrr'' once I let go of the gas. I don't notice this under 3k rpm. Its very noticeable when doing this while car is parked and in neutral. Any idea what it could be?
my car has been doing it, too....between rpm range of 2.5k to 3k.....when i use bluetooth, the person who i am calling will hear metal sound....like u finish up a drink with straw....
but it is gone now..... i didn't do anything, but it is fixed.....

What does it sound like when you are stationary and the hood is open? Can you listen under the hood while someone revs the engine for you?
It could be a heat shield or perhaps some other loose part in the front of the car. Absolute worst case is a worn rod bearing (yikes).

I have been hearing this noise on my car as well. I would hear this weird noise when I would let go off the gas at 3K RPMs or so.
Turned out to be my transmission had no oil it it!
My half shaft seal was leaking, and after I fixed that and filled it up with oil again, the noise went away.
