Start engine with doors locked?

I don't have remote starter installed in my TSX. Is there a way for me to start the car and keep the engine running with the doors locked, so that I can leave the car come back when it is warmed up?

Carry an extra key to lock the door after you have started the engine.

Is there another way to accomplish this without having to carry an extra key with me all the times? When I pick up my baby (that's my son, BTW) at the mall, I like to run inside and get him without having to turn off the engine but I don't want to leave the car running with the doors opened.

Perhaps I'm asking for too much.

If I was to go with a remote starter, which brand/model is good for the TSX?

From: http://www.autostart.ca

2-way automatic transmission remote starter.
FM system.
HDX technology.
Up to 2 500 feet of range.
5 button 2-way transmitter.
Easy to use shift key operation.
Visual command confirmation via buttons illumination.
Audible confirmation via Piezo speaker.
System status request mode with engine runtime.
Keyless entry, engine disable, trunk release, horn panic.
Antenna with embedded ultra bright Blue LED.
Two configurable auxilary outputs.
Turbo timer mode.
Communication port for optional 5 channel and dome light supervision expansion module.

Then 2 modules:

From: http://www.bypasskit.com

HODL2
Honda/Acura Doorlock Alarm Interface (HODL2)
Data Bus Interface: Lock/Unlock, Driver Priority Unlock, Trunk, OEM Security Arm/Disarm, Panic, (-) Door/Trunk/Hood Trigger Output.

From: http://bypasskits.fortinautoradio.com

HONDA-SL
Transponder data bypass kit for Honda and Acura vehicles. Self learning, no additional programming required. Successor for the HONDA-DA and the only bypass kit on the market that supports all 2005 Honda and Acura models.

This bypass kit offers the latest microcontroller technology and enhanced software algorithms for databus communication. The HONDA-SL is self-learning module so programming a mode like it's predecessor the HONDA-DA is no longer required. The bypass kit no longer requires the installer to cut the ignition line for the vehicles' transponder module at the key cylinder so if the unit loses power/ground or becomes defective the vehicle will still be able to function normally. The unit has been already undergone more than 13,000 hours of testing and will function between 4.5 to 25 VDC and down to -40 degrees C.

Narci - where in Toronto/GTA did you purchase and install this system? Would you mind letting me know how much you paid for it? Thanks!

I got it done at Concepts on Wheels. Good friend of mine is the Audio Manager (He did the Discovery Channel Wrigley pink mustang build) there. Your going to have to go in and ask him for a price. It's going to be pricey I can tell you that so don't expect Candian Tire prices of $99. Were's talking about $500+. His work is top notch with 10+ years exp. He tapes up every wire, puts diodes in to stop current feedback. Great guy.

hahahaha... Compustar 2-way (www.compustar.org)

You'll be able to start your car from miles away. I came back from Sacramento a coupla weeks ago and as the airplane was approaching I hit the #2 button to start my car and it responded. Bloody -21C / -1F or 1F weather though, that sucked.

Do NOT do the Canadian tire route... the local guys have been known to screw up their fair share of cars.

Get the compustar with integrated alarm. You'll be able to start your car and the doors/windows are still protect, just shock sensor's disabled. Open the door or bust the window and the alarm goes off then car shuts off.

With the Autostart starter it's Canadian made. There's also a cold weather mode that will start your car every 2 hours for 4 min. Last 24 hours or till you open the hood, use the remote to start the car, key in ignition etc.

If your away on long holidays, you can program it to run once a week, every few days a week, months etc. There's a crap load of programming options for the Autostart, just look at the manual. It will not disable the factory alarm or key fob functions, you will still be able to use the factory stuff.

If you want you can move up and get the starter/alarm combos as well. Check the website.

I was in the elevator on the 11th floor of my friend's condo and I was able to start the car that was on the ground floor.
