I want to know how does it count the milage is it the computer that is counting the milage and then sends the signal to the dash board or is it the counter in the dash that counts the millage.
if it is the counter in the dash does it mean that if i disconnect it my car milage will freeze?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal!

The ECU does the speed job. The dashboard for speed is just the display. Any disconnected wiring, engine check light comes on....

I didn't realize a disconnected speed sensor would pop a CEL. On some cars it will disable the ABS and VSC though. I think GM bases mileage off the ABS sensors in their vehicles, but don't quote me on that.

any time you mess with the odometer at all, you are screwed.
your car has just lost about 1/2 of it's value if not all.

basically it is considered a salvage car.

no person in their right mind would ever buy a car from any dealer
that has had the odometer screwed with.

there is even a provision on every single title for this.

I would strongly suggest against whatever it is you are planning.

If you want to roll back the clock, just drive in reverse.

Forgot to mention that is based on CL7 Euro R ECU. Different and very sensitive. Even having the cat subsituted, potential CEL lights up.

+1

Don't look for help doing something highly illegal here!

Well that doesn't surprise me at all. Different cat should light the CEL. You're changing the variance between the upstream and downstream O2 sensors. It most likely either thinks the cat failed or the downstream O2 sensor.

What you are referring to is illegal. With that said if you do disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor as others have said it will throw a CEL code because that is what it is supposed to do. You will also have problems shifting your car as the ECU won't know how fast you are going. If you leased the car then you have to pay for the mileage you go over. Live with it and on the next car you lease get it with a higher mileage per year or just buy the car outright.
