Some engine noise?

Hey guys, I have this really odd noise, which I think is coming from the engine but I can't be certain. It's driving me insane. I have the recording uploaded at 4shared. Can you guys listen and give me some insights? The dealership didn't hear anything and thought I was crazy. I took the recording from the left wheel as it can be heard really well there. Ignore the the 4th second as that's just the metal gate closing. Thanks in advance!

Do those tap sounds get faster and louder when the accelerator is pressed?

Yes, but the noise subsides after a certain RPM. Should I try taking off my belt? I turned off the circulation system and it didn't help.

Have you had the hood opened while the engine is running? Have a friend rev the engine while you're trying to find the origin. Obviously it's gotta be a moving part causing the noise. One of the fans perhaps?

Finally had the chance to take the car in on Tuesday. Just got the call now that they were able to replicate the noise and it was coming from the transmission. They ordered it and will replace it when it comes in! Thank god for extended warranty!

Sorry! Didn't get to update as I was enjoying my car again WITH NO NOISE! The new transmission fixed the issue!

O.P. Could you tell me the year of your car and mileage? I had my tranny replaced on my '06 at 67k.

I have the same problem. Did they tell you what the issue was? What part in the tranny was bad?
