smoke or just cold outside?

so i was driving home from my girl friends house tonight and i was stopped at a red light with no one around.. so i floored it from the light all the way to redline and shifted to second and started to slow down when i got to 80km/h. i looked in my review mirror and saw a lot of white smoke.

now i warmed up my engine, it was at normal operating temp, under easy driving (slow acceleration/ cruising) there is no smoke, and my car says it is about 7 degrees outside so do you think it is just the hot exhaust meeting with the cold air outside or is it a problem in my engine?

thanks

Steam from the exhaust won't form a cloud of white smoke in your rear view mirror. You won't even notice the steam in your rear view unless you're sitting at a light looking for it.

this morning i drove it again was i think it only smokes when vtec is kicked in. could the smoke be caused by to much oil in the car?

Too much oil could certainly cause some of it to be burned off, especially in v-tec. Burning oil could cause such a cloud of smoke behind you. Did you overfill your oil? 5 quarts is ideal for the K24.

so i just checked and it looks fine. the oil is between the 2 dots on the dip stick but it is on the lower half if that matters at all.

Nah, your oil level is fine. Your engine may just burn oil in v-tec. Ever notice it get low just before a change?
