self replacing compressor in 04 TSX?

My A/C went dead like many others at 70K, 1000 miles out of warranty. Is it hard to replace the compressor, clutch set, and coil? Do you think the dealership would fix it only 1000 miles out of warranty? So pissed.

I would absolutely most definitely positively ask them if they will help you out. Even an offer to pay for part of the cost would help.

Oh, and I am having AC woes of my own at the moment. I'm still under warranty, though. It's just a matter of them figuring out what's wrong. So far, they've checked everything electrical (yes, even the relay) and found nothing wrong. The SM said he'd think things over and get back to me.

That's good advice. If you're just out of warrany, I've heard the dealerships have covered labor, if you pay for the part. I've even heard stories of them covering the whole bill out of good will or faith. I would tell them that you rarely use the AC, and that you're surprised that it broke so quickly on such an expensive car.
