Security Beep question?

When I arm my alarm system on my 04 TSX, the cars beep seems really loud. Any way to reduce the loudness of the beep?

The 06 beep is better. Who needs to hear their car honk more than 20 feet away? I don't think my remote can work that far. Even then, I wonder who would ever walk 20 feet away before deciding to lock their car? If you don't hear the beep, you'll have to walk 20 feet back to see why it didn't lock.

And if you live in an apartment complex, do you want your car to honk so that you wake up the neighbors that are light sleepers? Sometimes I wish I had rocks by my window so I can throw it at the cars outside that honk once because they're waiting for someone to come out (late at night....it wakes me up)

I can hear the 06 beep loud and clear from 3 car lengths away, and that's perfect for me.

Hehe good thread...I was wondering why my car didn't honk like my roomate's 06' accord. I was about to hit the user's manual to check the settings too.

Turn the volume knob down. In my '06, I keep it past 10...to 11!

Yah if you ever do walk 20ft away from the car I am pretty sure by then it will auto-lock unless you changed your driver setting.

well its all upto preference, i dont live in an apartment so i wouldnt wake up people. im thinking of figuring out what makes that beep and then replacing that speaker with a horn that isnt too loud but better than that beep.

There, I corrected it.

And today, I was going to ask my boss something, but then I heard her disarm her car outside. Apparently she decided to use the other (very infrequently used) door to avoid the staff ;-P I can hear her car from a few rooms away

If you're talking about your 04 then no. The alarm arming confirmation sound is just a short blast of the horn. If you figure out how to make the horn quieter, then you can do it.

you could probably build a circuit to do it- use a relay so that the power going to the horns goes through a resistor when the engine is off
