so i get off of work and go to my car to realize that some idiot in a red car opened their door and left a nice scratch that took off my paint and left a DING! definitely pissed me off! so besides thinking that i'll kick every freaking red car i see from now on, i've calmed myself down and decided how to get rid of this scratch any suggestions? (its about an inch long)

That sucks. People are idiots. As for as getting the scratch out you should definitely check out our Wash & Wax section in Off Topic and do a search on "scratch repair". Is the scratch through the clearcoat? Through the paint? A pic would help.

I agree, looks like you'll need a pro to fill that, sand, polish, etc. Might give the Langka kit a shot if you want to try to fix it yourself. It's one thing to have your door hit someone's car --it happened to me, my son opened the passenger door of our Tahoe on a windy day, wind caught it and it banged the car next to us. But I left a note on the windshield, the woman called me, and we agreed on $100, I mailed her a check. It's just the right thing to do.

Good luck with your scratch & dent. It's a bummer.

if everybody in the world is like you, then this world would be a lot better.

the guy that gave my rear bumper a 12" deep scratch never cared to do anything

I def agree!!! I would venture to bet that probably 5%-10% of the people in this world would actually do that. I actually saw a guy hit the car next to him with his door, get out and look at it, get back in his car and move to a different parking space and then go into the store. If i wasn't already in my car with it loaded up, i would have gotten out and left a note on that person's windshield with his plate number, but i had a tight time frame that day....

But i agree, that looks like it could use some professional attention!
