right side reverse light

my right side reverse light has been acting up. it only stays on when the trunk is opened half way. if its closed or fully opened it will not stay lit. when i unplug the plug from the socket and run a test light everything works properly but when i plug the socket back in, theres power to both negative and postive sides. anyone have a clue ?

This might sound stupid, but have you tried switching or replacing the bulb? Sometimes before the bulb is about to go, the filament is kinda loose but will still work when the filament is still in contact at both ends (and not burnt). When you open/close the trunk essentially you'll move the filament in and out of contact at the loose end.

Either that or perhaps the wiring and goes along the left trunk hinge is bad.

this sounds like the infamous trunk wire recall, do a search or check the FAQ

i've been having a problem w/ my interior trunk light only working when the trunk is half way up, going to have to take it to the dealer to get checked

nope, i did notice my right brake light is out however, and its not the bulb. might be some cut wires from the recall that weren't fixed properly

Brining this thread back... didn't want to start a new thread... so yeah, my right side reverse light is out... tried replacing the bulb and nothing works. So Vroom, was ur car still under warranty? My car isn't and they're asking for $105 just to take a look at it and IF it really is the trunk harness they'll waive it later is what they said.... should I go risk that $105? Or is there another way to figure out if it really is the trunk harness?
