Requesting help with noise asap

Hey guys. I would like your help right about now. I'm in the city right now and all of the sudden I'm hearing really loud screechy noise coming from somewhere as the car moves. As the car goes faster the noise is lower but still noticable. It sounds like claws running on chalkboard. I'm not sure if this is the brakes. I've checked to make sure of wasn't the power steering. Does anyone have insights? Thanks

Did you look under the car to see if you're dragging anything? Any indication what area of the car it's coming from? You're not giving us much to work with.

Just had my mom try it. It's the right front brake. Damn it's loud.

Could be a piece of something (rock, mulch) stuck in there or the feeler strips telling you to get new pads.

its definately the right front brake, i got it there too, its definately a rock, it has happened to me twice in the last couple months, only stayed there for like 15 to 60 minutes don't worry about it but try to take a wasted credit card or library card and run it between the caliper and brake pad, to dislodge it and then drive around, after awhile you will notice a gouge in your rotor, may need to replace if severe, but other than that just ride it out, my method is to accelerate 25 then to an abrupt dead stop and then drive normally, repeat if needed, also try stomping down the break then letting go a few times, then drive and it will fall out.

^ agreed. If its what i think, its a rock. Happened to me a few months ago... I had to park in a gravel parking lot and on the way out a rock must've gotten in there... I went over a speed bump to get mine out... hope that helps

You guys were right! It was definitely a rock or something. I pulled over and stopped for an hour. The noise was there when I started moving but after a few hundred feet, it all stopped. Thanks again!

You might have got a rock stuck in the dust guard and wedge up against the rotor.

My friend's is 250 did some off roading at a beach, and it came out with pepples wedge behind the rotor.

took us a few hrs to get the rocks out of both front wheels.

I had this happen to me last summer. I got rid of it by repeatedly accelerating and braking. Took about a minute once I realized I had something stuck in there.

Now, if you begin getting this noise and it won't go away at all, it's probably your wear indicators on your brake pads telling you it's time for a new set.

Next time try Reverse. I had a rock stuck in the passenger rear brake and reverse did the trick.

Thanks, I'll be sure to try that next time. It was quite embarrassing with all that noise I was making in the middle of Manhattan.
