Replacing Front/Backseat Dome Lights w/o Breaking Everything!
Replacing Front/Backseat Dome Lights w/o Breaking Everything!
I just got new LED lights for my doors and dome lights. The doors were a snap to replace, but the dome light looks to be a litte tricky.
Everywhere I've read states to take a flathead screwdriver, and pry them loose. My question is this; do i pry the actual clear light case, or the whole unit itself from the ceiling? The backseat unit seems like it could be removed, but before i did any irreversible damage, i wanted to consult w/ the all wise Acurzine users. The front light unit, seems a bit more complex. In the eyeglass holder, it looks as though it is bolted to the ceiling.
Any help you guys could provide would be appreciated.
Thanks...

When sitting in the driver's seat get a small flathead screwdriver and gently pry the side furthest from your windshield. Once it starts to move you will see a little notch that you can slide the screwdriver into. Pry that side down and you can see how everything connects. Just be gentle and you shouldn't break anything.
the whole unit, or just the clear bulb case?

Also note that once you free up one side of the case, you should try to free up the other end too such that both ends come out at the same time. Otherwise you'll likely jam the non-free end of the case and will have to push the free end back in to try again.
Don't use too much force - that is a sure way to break them.
Also, once you start to budge one side, stick the screwdriver in another place and gently pry that side. This makes the process easier/less breakage prone.
