Replace or Reset Airbag Module?

I have a 2006 TSX that was in a minor front end collision, only setting off the driver's wheel airbag. I replaced the air bag, but is it possible to send the SRS module out to be reset? A new one from the dealer is $450 so I am trying to avoid that if I can. Would I have to replace the crash sensor?

Label Snob,

In most situations once the airbags have deployed, you will need to either replace it with a new or a recycled airbag module. The front crash sensor should also be replaced as well, in most cases. Thankfully, this sensor costs about $63-$86 depending on where you buy it from.

Thanks. Actually I took the SRS out and sent it to BBA Remanufacturing in Taunton, MA. They removed the crash data and mailed it back to me for $30. Crash sensor was fine.

... talk about thread revival from the dead...

heres what happened when i e-mailed them.

"Hi Vincent,

We do erase the permanent crash data on modules from cars that have been involved in an accident where the airbags were actually deployed. We cannot fix any of these units if there are any fault codes that say "internal fault" but otherwise, we do repair them for $99 plus shipping or $30 if you're local to our workshop. It takes about 2 days here to complete and we call you when done for shipping or to pick it up.

As for the repair work, we do not send out parts with that information at this time, but you can be sure if there are any problems with your rebuild, then we will collect it back under warranty at our cost.

Warm regards,
-Jenny

Greetings,

I found your contact information from a friend who also had a tsx from a forum that I participate in. He mentioned that he had sent off his SRS unit to you guys and had the reset done for $30. How can I go about doing the same thing here?

I was curious if I could do the same? Also, when I send it in, is there anyway I can get a copy of the crash data? I was involved with a minor wreck, and just want to make sure the correct parts were replaced.

Thanks,

Vincent"
