Recurring problem with drivers side arm rest.

The padding on the left drivers side arm rest has lost loft and now my bony elbow lays on a hard surface. When I went to the dealer to get a new armrest, the service tech said he had never seen the padding lose its resilience before. The armrest cushion was replaced and a few weeks later the padding deteriorated again. Has anyone experienced this before and found a solution?

Yes. I've crushed the foam padding as well "p.o.s.". Now it's hard and uncomfortable so now I find myself laying my arm across the top of the door panel....... so I'm probably going to ruin it too.

I find myself sliding the right side armrest out occasionally to avoid flat spotting. I've noticed I don't use the left side continuously because I have a 6MT and the left arm is the "steering arm". One more advantage to the MT: driver's side elbow padding maintenance

i have 6mt, but travel very long ways frequently and my L arm is always on the pad. yes, it begins to feel very hard after a while but has not shown any signs of excessive wear or sinking.

I have the exact same problem. The padding on mine is about gone too. I commute on the freeway everyday so my arm is always on there. I'm thinking about getting a little gel type pillow or something and just putting it there if I'm on a long drive.

Thumbs down

The driver's side arm rest is very flimsy. I have a 2005 TSX. I first started noticing a problem when the car had less than 10,000 miles. Now, there is no foam anymore and it makes noise when I press my left elbow on it.

Even after a decade of driving automatics, I've never once used the left driver's arm rest...it feels so wierd driving with just the right hand.

maybe you guys should use that handle that's above the door ;-)

With my left hand firmly grasping the steering wheel, I rest my left elbow (the Humerus Medial Epicondyle) on the arm rest. The area in contact with the arm rest is quite small causing discomfort as the padding loses its resilience.
