Recently developed a clutch noise...
So i had the car at idle a couple days ago and noticed that everytime i press down on the clutch pedal, near the end of its travel i hear an audible creaking noise from under the car and outside the cabin. It sounds like an o-ring rubbing up against a wall of a cylinder or something. Like two balloons rubbing up against each other. I searched the forums/google and i only found people getting problems with the clutch pedal itself but nothing from outside of the car. Could this be the clutch master cylinder needing lubrication/replacement?
I am pretty sure I know this sound. It is very common in Hondas. It is produced from the rubbing of the slave cylinder piston arm on the clutch release bearing lever. Very high-pitch. When assembled, everything is lubed with Honda Ultra Hi-Temp Urea grease. However, after some weather and heat the grease can wear down and it starts causing this noise. To get rid of it, have a friend use a pry bar and pry back the release bearing lever while you spread some Urea grease on the slave piston arm and in the dimple where it rests on the release bearing arm. Should quiet things up.
Hmm its not a high pitched sound. Its like two balloons rubbing up against each other, a very low pitched subtle sound. Similar to a non metallic version of what an old bed sounds like when you sit on it.
Two balloons rubbing against each other makes a high-pitch noise IMO. I wouldn't dismiss my previous suggestion though based on how we describe sounds over the internet. It's a quick DIY and if it the noise is still there, at least you've eliminated a possibility.
