Rear window defroster........slow?

My rear window defroster seems to take a while to defrost the rear window. I mean, it takes about 5 mins before even seeing anything happen. Is this normal or is my defroster not heating up properly?? It does eventually defrost the window, just takes so long.........

5 minutes sounds long, I think I'm only waiting a minute or two at most before seeing results.

It may only be a minute or so........but still seems slow. I was just wondering if this was normal or not. I'm not talking iced up (in Florida), just dew on the window and fogged up on the inside. I've lived with it so far........just curious if others were having the same performance.

I hate to revive such an old thread but a google search lead me to it. I noticed the same thing. Has anyone found a solution?

Defogger uses 12V and perhaps 20A (30A fuse) so 240 watt heater. This is less than a small hair dryer (1000w). So 5 mins does seem about right for a cold frozen window.

good luck
