Really Odd Window Creak - any ideas?

My 2004 TSX has a creaking sound coming from the driver door window. When the window is down 1/8” or more, the noise stops. When the window is fully up, the constant low-volume creaking starts again. The dealer can't seem to solve the problem. Does anyone else have this issue? Any ideas for me?

Thanks!

Clean the weather strip and the upper part of the window. Sometimes dirt gets trapped there and the window doesn't seal completely again the strip, giving it a little play and causing the sound.

i was JUST about to post something about this problem as well, but i have a 2006 tsx. just like you it's a constant creaking, especially noticeable when driving over somewhat bumpier roads. and it ceases entirely when the window is down. i'll try what CGTSX2004 suggested first because i was about to spray the entire door down with WD40.

this creaking noise happens to me too. its very annoying because its creaking right besides your left ear. i thought that this noise was happening because of the tints, but guess not. i tried cleaning method too but it still creaks and dealers cannot resolve this problem no matter how much you visit them.

had them look at it once, and is groaning again. that and my sunroof (see problems-sunroof and window problem) are really starting to doubt my confidence. what and how do i lube and clean ? is it only the outside track and the outside of the window ?

I've used the 303 aerospace protectant all around the rubber seals twice now, and it seems to have helped quite a bit with the creaks (for the last couple of months anyway).

mind you, the other noise i've heard from the same area has to do with the door lock knob. i've had to unscrew the knob and popped the washer off, and reseated them a few times to get the creaks out.

it's almost like our doors were not aligned properly; notice the warping that occurs when the window is fully closed. with the windows closed completely, the plastic panels sort of push against the door lock knob; and also cause the rubber seals to 'bend'. I believe the 303 stuff softens the rubber seals so they don't creak against the metal frame.

i think creak he mentioned is the one coming from the window seal. not the door seals. door seal creaks can be corrected with simple lubing, but window seal creaking is hard to get rid of.

i was talking about the window seals. never did have any problem with the door seals. but it's good to lube them every once in a while too.

i noticed that when the acura dealer does the oil changes, they also spray some sort of lubricant all around the door seals.

after few lubings done by the dealer, door seal creaking dissapeared. but this window seal creaking is killing me. only way of not hearing is to turn up the music loud enough to cancel out the creaking noise.

I'd give it a shot of Silicon Spray Lube. GM started using this on it's Vette's several years ago because the windows were creaking and it worked wonders. It's what the Acura dealer is probably using, but perhaps not enought around the window seals and the sunroof gasket. As a bonus, it cleans and treats the gasket to keep it in better condition.

Of course, if you fix the window creak, there goes your excuse to upgrade the stereo....

I have the same problem on my '04. Cleaning seals/window edge did not help my cause.

I had a sound coming from my window before the cable broke. Not say that's your problem but it may be worth a look.

I have a problem which I thought was related to my tints but I guess not. My problem is when my passenger side window completly closes it makes a loud pop noise. Almost like its being super tightened? I have had the dealer put some sort of lube and it does get rid of the problem temporarly but not permanetly. Anyone else run into this problem?

I have this problem too. 2005 TSX

For guys that have the problem:

1) Does the noise seem to coming right around where the pull up lock knob on the door is?

2) Can you replicate the noise while the car is standing still by banging on the upper part of the door. Does it feel like something is loose right by where the pull up lock knob is?

3) While the car is in motion with the window fully up and the noise is present, does the noise go away if you use your right or left hand place it on the window around the center of the driver's window and put pressure on it pushing towards the outside?

Right said Miamicarfan!
I bought a 2006 Acura TSX just one month back and that noise by the pull up lock knob has been very irritating. When your car is moving smoothly, thats the only noise you hear. You cant drive it peacefully, otherwise the car is excellent.

I also experienced the same problems and the answers to all your 3 questions is "YES".

I feel, the noise comes due to vibration of some loosely fitted lock knob within the doors. This vibration can be caused by the running engine, road friction or speaker output.

I have observed the same noise in other TSX models also, guess its a common TSX problem and not just related to one or two TSX cars.

I am planning to visit the dealer and get it fixed if possible.

Please let me know if anyone has succeeded in getting rid of that noise from the front doors.
