Rattle galore!!!!!
Rattle galore!!!!!
My SSM/Ebony 6MT is with me for around 3.7K miles. And guess what, it starts rattling after the first fill up, and introduce more of the devilish friends since then. I hate to say this but at least my last lemon Mitsubishi Galant lasted 'till 7K miles before any rattling sets in. This car tops my list for the variety of rattles! I have all the (now famous) bass rattle, passenger side mysterious rattling, dash board/steering column rattling/knocking, sunroof flapping, driver side door squeaking. Plus a driver seat that refuse to settle. What the hell is Honda's QC team doing when they built my car?!?! Was mine biult on a Monday?!?!
I tried to repair it with the dealer, but as helpful as they are, the problem comes back in just one day. God, I am frustrated. My 77' Mazda 1000 had less rattles at 300,000 miles comparing to this TSX.
Plus, I thought Honda knows how to make a solid chassis. But what the f*&k are those 2nd and 3rd order vibrations I felt through the chassis (heard them too) after a bump?!?! Felt like the old Saab 900...
Oh, other than the above mentioned, the car is really sweet. But I am keeping a close watch at my service records. If they don't solve the problem this year, Acura will have to buy this back. I am not going to tolerate another lemon.

That's scary. I don't expect the rattle problem will show up in my TSX soon hopefully. It has been a solid car since I picked it up. I will be very upset if the rattle problem comes. I own a 1994 civic and I had 190000 miles on it but I don't have a single rattle problem with it. TSX is 100% built in Japan and I thought the quality will be ensured.

I got my car April 23rd and the only rattle I have is when I listen to AM radio, and its the drivers door lock doing the rattling.
It does'nt bother me as it only happens sometimes and I know it not a mechanical problem at all just poor design. These are the pitfalls of buying first year cars guys.

Actually, rattle IS enough to define a lemon car. As long as there is proof that it cannot be repaired. I have sensitive ears (hence my audio engineer degree), and I really hate rattling. I'll keep all the service records, and if they can't fix it, they'll hear from my lawyer.
My wife's TSX has a rattle in the passanger door without music playing, a sunroof rattle and a new more annoying problem. Their is a crackle/creak comming from the dashboard when you go over a bump or road irregularity. This one is real annoying. My wife is embarassed when she takes someone for a ride and the dashboard starts creaking.

Finally understand how you all feel about rattles. I got my loaner car which is also a TSX today and it has rattle from the back speakers. Probably someone crank the bass too high with high volume and somethings loose back there. Seems like either Pioneer speaker or TSX itself is not up to high quality standard. Hope mine don't have this annoying rattles problem.

They gave me the damn "Unable to duplicate" excuse for the rattles which is so fucking obvious that I could hear it as soon as I turn on the audio when picking up the car frm the service rep the other day. And I totally agree about how your wife felt, someone I took for a ride asked me what the hell was that sound. Makes the TSX feels like a piece of shit which it is not.

Have you determined where the creaking is comming from? I am worried that my dealer may also not be able to fix the problem. I am not too worried about them not being able to duplicate the noise, because, it is pretty consistant and loud.

Hi,
The rattles were so obvious that they still give me an "unable to duplicate" excuse. So I guess, nothing can change them.
I know where the creaking is coming from, so I am gonna tell them tomorrow when I bring my car in. I'll bet they will gimme an "Unable to duplicate" excuse again...sick of this waranty shit...should have just gotten a used car and live with all the rattles in that car saving myself some time and more bucks.....
Should have just kept my integra....audio sounds better, no rattle, no wind noise, but a lil creaking not as bad as this.

I tried getting it from the one in Transit as its nearer to my place but the sales person won't budge abit from MSRP telling me they could sell it over MSRP...duh. I got bucks(s)(s) of from the one in West Seneca, nice sales person....ask for Mike Copella. Tell him Alex sent you if you are looking for a TSX. Which trim you are looking at?
I will take the TSX to the one in Transit for service next week. Hope they could try work it out. Want to see which place does it better
Yeah...i talked to the sales person and he told me the same thing...he said he has been selling it for over msrp blah blah..i was looking at the tsx w/o navi....i went there cause i wanted to check out the sound system...was kind of disappointed...sounded kinda weak when i had it up in the 30's...either that or the radio reception wasn't that great....I'll check out the seneca location...how much did they take off just wondering?

yea i got my tsx on transit my fam has 4 other acuras so they gave me a break on the price but fuckin delaership i bring my car in and thier like well we fixed it 10 mins alter squell im talkin about my brakes and i ahvnt had any rattles yet but hmm hopefully im lucky
Sorry to hear that some of you guys have the same experience. I have scheduled to send in my car for service next week. Hope they can fix the problem.
A car that rattles means a couple of things to me.
1. The parts aren't put together too well.
2. The chassis is soft.
3. The car isn't designed to last.
I have to say this is very dissapointing. Only one of my previously owned car rattled this bad, and it only started after 7K miles. None of the european car I owned/drove had this kind of rattle in the first 10K miles. Even after 10K miles, the rattles weren't that many. Geez...

Latest update:
One new problem surface. Whenever I reverse and turn the steering wheel clockwise, there will be a loud clicking sound. What da fark is that? Did anyone else had this problem?

I can't really localize the problem, but it's definitely loud enough to be embarrassing. It happens when I accelerate, and it's worst when making left turns. I wasn't even gonna post about it yet, but now that others are having the same problem...
I can't imagine how the dealer could fix this thing. My Camry had a very similar creak when accelerating from a stop, and I just got used to it. But this one is a little scarier.
Anybody who's got this problem, please post new developments or attempts to get the dealer to fix it.
Same goes for the buzzing noise that comes from the steering column when riding over sharp bumps.
:'(

I bought mine after finding the 2 TSX forums and read all the RATLES problem, and still took the jump of faith buying the car. Overall I am still happy and having fun with the car. I guess I have to wait longer and see if I can still say the same.
I just past the break in ,600 miles yesterday, so far I have restrained myself exploring the fun zone.
I BELIEVE THE PERSON THAT WILL ENJOY AND HAVING FUN DRIVING THE TSX WILL BE THE ONE THAT WILL EXCEPT THE BAD WITH THE GOOD.
Just crank up the volume and listen to your favorite music and really really notice how the car makes you feel. It made me smile and it always make my day.
P.S. : Tonight I did honk to a fellow NBP TSX owner around S.Pasadena. It's good to see our rare TSX on the road.

Have 1,100 miles and have the bass rattle, passenger side mysterious sqeaking, and driver side door lock rattle. This is my third Acura. I'm not all that impressed with the tighness of the car. The passenger side mysterious sqeaking is really starting to bug me. Anyone know what it is?

actually all these rattle threads have simply made me paranoid as hell when i drive my car. i am constantly turning down the radio to listen for rattles and the funny part is that i don't think my car has any. hopefully it never really will!
2,200 miles here and my car has a "buzzing" sound coming from somewhere in the central part of the dash board - don't know exactly where. I wonder if this buzz thing is what others call rattling. Also, when playing loud bass music, the rear view mirror vibrates.

TSXautoXer?
Hey have you talked to your lawyer? What do you need to document your case, and is it a straight forward return. Like if you have all the paper work and your lawyer submits it then does acura go to court with you, or do they just say yup this qualifies and buy it back?

You have to turn your radio up..wayy up ...to hear some of the rattles. They are caused by speaker vibrations. (not all of them though)
