Question regarding my lights.
Question regarding my lights.
Hey all,
I have a 2004 TSX and I accidentally left my lights on the other day but they turned off automatically (within about 10 seconds) from when i got out of the car. Now, this may be a stupid question, but are these lights set up so you can leave them on all the time, similar to the set up Volvo and Saab has? Just wondering because I am new to this car.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks.

It's a setting on the car. It shuts off after a certain amount of time of you removing the key from ignition and closing the door. You can change it in the new models by going into the menu, not sure about the 04s though.
First, welcome to the forum. Second this is definitely a problem and requires a fix, you posted it in the correct area. Third, there is a search button on the top that will help you find answers quickly and easily. Because you have an 04 most of these questions have been asked and the answers have been discussed ad nauseam.
Finally, the answer to your questions lies on pg 71 of your users manual.

The headlights automatically turn off if the engine is not running. Doesn't matter if the key is in the ignition, cause you can turn on the headlights temporarily without the key.
I haven't tried leaving the headlight switch to on when I'm not using the car, but when it comes to starting the car, I would think that would be robbing power from the starter to turn the engine.
