Problem with black trim on window

I have a decent size dent from something right behind my drivers window in the black trim. Is this easy to replace? If so where can I get this part. Probably just live with it if it will be a $500 thing, but if I can do it myself cheap I would really like to fix it. Thanks.

Actually, I think that the black trim you describe is actually black "tape" over that portion of the window frame--Item number "8" described as: "TAPE, L. FR. DOOR SASH CENTER (OUTER) BLACK GLOSS 20" As a result, fixing this may be more challenging.

Perhaps a paintless dent repair guy can get the dent out from behind...

Oh yeah-- assuming it can be done, a paintless dent repair should A LOT less than $500.

I think you are right

After looking at it some more I noticed it is just the black tape. I guess my only real option is to call the dent pro guy and see what he can do. Still a mystery to me as to how it happen. Probably some idiot slamming something into it!!!

So...

Did you have it fixed or just live with it? I would really like to get this fixed, but the more I look at it the more I think it isn't going to happen. The door has piece of metal on the back side there that Will probably prevent the paintless repair. My second thought is to just try to get undernieth the black tape and patch and sand the dent) since you won't be able to tell with the tape over it?

I have a cut in the tape I would like to fix so if you do it let me know how hard the removal/installation of the tape is. Good luck

Someone with experience...

Any one here with experience removing this tape or fixing dent/ding in this area? I don't really want to start removing this stuff or working on it without hearing from someone that has done it before. I would rather live with it than get the job half done and find out I am screwed. Thanks.

Paintless fix...

Just got an estimate of $150 to replace the tape and fix the ding. Now just trying to decide. I think I will probably do it for that.
