Problem with AUX input on 2006
Hello,
We just bought a 2006 last night. We tried the AUX input using an IPOD and the quality was horrible. On a previous car, we used a Kenwood deck with an AUX input and it worked great on that car. The quality is as bad as using a tape adapter. Has anyone else experienced this? We think it may be the cable, but the cable is relatively new.
Thanks,
Sun

it might just be a bad cable. i know this isnt the same thing, but on some computer you can wire up jacks to the front of a computer case which is more or less an aux jack. some computer has crappy aux outputs or the cables are cheap and you get static through it but the normal outputs are great.
seeing as you just bought it make your dealer handle it.

Are you using the headphone jack on the iPod? If so, you want the volume to be around 75%. You will also get a lot better quality if you use the line out on the iPod instead of the headphone jack. I recommend the PocketDock. I have an AUX input on my car, and the sound is noticeably better when I use the line out.
It could also be that Acura used an improperly shielded cable, and it's picking up interference from somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are using the headphone jack with the volume turned up all the way. This is the way we used it before. We will try a different cable and see if that helps. I will update the thread later tonight.
It's not static. It's as if the volume is very low. It's more like a radio source vs. cd, where the voices and bass don't hit very well. You can have a cd source and have it turned very low, but the bass and vocals still sound good. I hope that makes sense.

If it's not static, I would definately try the line out option. You can test it with a regular dock if you have one. If you want to stick with the headphone jack, you should also check the EQ settings on the iPod. You will get the best results with it turned off.

Ok, false alarm. I'm not sure if the first time we didn't have the cable plugged all the way in or what, but I just tested it again and it is working fine in the garage. We also tried it with a dock using the line out and it sounds the same. Can't wait for the Ipod integrator.
Thanks again, this looks to be a really great community.

Do you still have to turn the iPod volume down to 75% when using it now? Or do you use it at full volume since you have it plugged in the right way now?
Hope your enjoying your car!!!
